Mrs. Addie Ree Harrison

God blessed Addie Ree Harrison with the birthday date October 29, 1944. She was born in Morton, Mississippi to Reverend Cleveland & Lovie Floyd. God ordered her soul to rest on June 13, 2023 in Jackson, Mississippi. Addie Ree grew up in Morton/Pelahatchie communities with sisters Hannah Mae Bowie, Verta Mae Denson, and Barbara "Bobbi Ann" Parks. All of whom are deceased. Her brothers are Singleton "Buddy Boy" Floyd, Paul Floyd, Billy Ray Floyd, and Louis Cleveland "Sonny Boy" Floyd. There are two remaining brothers, Billy Ray Floyd, and Sonny "Sonny Boy" Floyd. Addie Ree attended Pelahatchie-McCall School in Pelahatchie, Mississippi from 1950 through 1960. She engaged in sports, home economic activities, and singing. She earned her high school diploma from Miami Adult Education School in 1972. In her youthful years, she served as a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Leesburg, Mississippi. Addie Ree also served over 40 years as a devout member of Glendale Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, Florida currently under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Jones. Addie Ree married Alfred Collier Sr. in 1960. Soon after God blessed the couple with four children. They are Tonnette, Jeffery, Alfred Jr., and Anthony. In 1979, God blessed her to bore another son, Demetrese Johnson. Later in her life, she married Frank Harrison Jr. That marriage occurred in 1984. Addie Ree became a widow at age 53 after 13 years of marriage to Frank. From the early 1980's to late 1990's, Addie Ree worked as a housekeeper. In 1997, she served as a toll road operator for the Florida Department of Transportation. Afterwards, in 2002 she earned her Commercial Driver's License and performed as a bus operator for Miami-Dade Transit Authority (MDTA). She retired in 2012 from MDTA. Addie Ree was an avid reader, learner, believer, and doer of God's Holy Word. She loved attending worship services at Glendale. Her most favorite gospel singers are Mahalia Jackson, Helen Baylor, Shirley Caesar, Mississippi Mass Choir, Aretha Franklin, and Reverend James Cleveland. Her hobbies included baking, preparing holiday meals, sewing, watching professional sports (NFL & NBA), arts & crafts, and wearing authentic African attire. Addie Ree leaves to cherish in her memories... Tonnette Collier, Jeffery & Christina Collier, Alfred & Jewel Collier, Anthony & Cassandra Collier, Demetrese Johnson & Michelle Dubose, Billy & Beatrice Floyd, Sonny Floyd, Pastor Jones & Glendale Family. a host of grands, great grands, and Macklin/Floyd family members.
