Mrs. Carolyn Diane Morris

Carolyn Diane Morris passed away peacefully at her home in Brandon, Ms on July 4, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1952, in Gulfport, MS, to the late Cephus Robey and Arvyzena Rateliff-Sallis of Gulfport, MS. Carolyn attended 33rd Avenue Elementary and graduated from Gulfport High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education at Jackson State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Education degree. During her time at Jackson State, she encountered Thomas Morris, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on December 19, 1971. From this union, two beloved sons were born: Thomas E. Morris Jr. and Theron E. Morris. Carolyn's unwavering passion for education guided her to become a dedicated teacher at Lobias Murray Christian Academy, where she shared her expertise with fifth-grade students. Her commitment to shaping young minds left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless students, and her love for teaching was evident in the lasting impact she had on their lives. Carolyn's dedication extended beyond the classroom, as she nurtured and encouraged her students to strive for excellence and embrace the joys of learning. Upon her retirement, Carolyn embarked on a new chapter in her life, settling in Brandon, MS. There, she continued to inspire those around her with her kindness, wisdom, and joyful spirit. Carolyn's presence illuminated the lives of others, offering a listening ear, a comforting presence, and a contagious smile that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. She truly was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Carolyn's memory will forever be cherished as we reflect upon the precious moments we shared with her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering strength. In addition to her parents, Cephus Robey Sr. and Arvyzena Sallis, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Morris Sr., her brother Walter Robey Sr., and her sister Thelma Robey-Taylor. She is survived by her loving sons, Thomas Jr. (Theresa) Morris of Las Vegas, NV, and Theron (Stephanie) Morris of Brandon, MS. Carolyn also leaves to cherish her memory her father, Otha Sallis of Gulfport, Ms, and her brother, Cephus Robey Jr. of San Pedro, CA; brother in law Perry Taylor of Gulfport, MS sister in law Lillie Robey of Cleveland, MS. Her grandchildren that she cherished: Zephyr Morris, Milwaukee, WI; Theron Morris, Brandon, MS; Tiante Morris of Las Vegas, NV; Thomas Morris, Ill of Las Vegas, NV; Josiah Morris, Brandon, MS; Tristan Morris of Las Vegas, NV; Trenton Morris of Las Vegas; Tavian Morris of Las Vegas, NV and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. As we bid farewell to Carolyn, let us hold her memory close to our hearts and find comfort in the profound impact she made on our lives. May her spirit guide us, inspire us, and remind us to approach each day with love, kindness, and resilience, just as she did.
