Ms. Jennifer Lee Pride

Jennifer lived life to the absolute fullest! She was the second born child to Jerry and Glenice Smith on December 1, 1983 in Detroit MI. Her family relocated to Mississippi in 1994. She professed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pearl MS where she discovered her voice and her love for music while singing in the choir. Jennifer was educated in the Pearl public schools and graduated from Pearl High School. Jennifer was a natural born athlete. She ran track and field throughout junior high and high school and would win many awards along the way. Jennifer worked as a CNA for many years. She poured her love and heart into caring for people, but her love for music would continue to pull her in its direction. Her voice was exceptional. She won many awards and accolades. She traveled extensively meeting many celebrities locally and nationally as she collaborated on albums, live performances and music videos. Jennifer would go on to become a celebrity in her own right and won awards such as, The Jackson Hip Hop Award and would become a nominee for The BET Award. Although music was in her DNA, she also had entrepreneurship in her blood. Jennifer would become the proud owner of her own beauty Establishment PrideLocs. Just when you think she could not possibly possess any more talent, she would become just as famous for being a loctician as she would for her music. Jennifer would not only embark upon a new trade, but she would go on to master it. Her family was extremely proud of all her many accomplishments. Although Jennifer had many interests, won numerous awards and countless accomplishments, she was most proud of becoming a mother in 2004. Aniyah Simone Pride was her first love! She was grateful that God had blessed and entrusted her with her beautiful daughter, her "mini-me. They shared a love for shopping and fashion; Jennifer was a talented clothes designer, even making her own prom dress. Jennifer and Aniyah did some traveling, but above all they most enjoyed spending quiet precious moments together. She saw something special in her daughter and would teach her how to become a loctician. They worked side by side in her salon as they bonded over this new common interest. Jennifer was very proud of Aniyah! Jennifer had a heart of gold and her smile and laugh was infectious. She loved people, she loved life, she loved to laugh, have fun, but most of all she loved family. Jennifer will be missed by many. Her absence will leave a void in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Although her life was short-lived, it was certainly full and she aimed to enjoy every minute Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents Percy & Christine Holmes, Artie Lee Jones and Jessie & LeGertha O' Neal. Jennifer leaves to cherish her memories her supportive parents: Jerry and Glenice Smith of Pearl MS, one daughter, Aniyah Simone Pride of Pearl MS. Siblings Christina Pride (Lemario Johnson) of Pearl MS, Jerry Smith Jr. (Shaneika Silmon) of Arlingion TX, Delano Smith of Arlington TX. Five nephews, Marquies Fields, Caiden Fields, Lemario Johnson, Jr., Keyonte' Smith and Khylin Smith. Two nieces, Akyria Smith and Skylar Smith, A special friend Mario Smith of Byram MS, a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
