Ms. Mamie B. Newsome

Mamie B. Newsome was born October 17, 1966 to Nora B Smith Spann, in Brandon, Mississippi. She was the oldest of 8 siblings: Eugene, Vivian, Arthur lee, Alice (Dan Arthur, Janice and Jerry preceded in death!) With only a seventh-grade education, Mamie obtained several jobs in the city of Jackson, Mississippi Mamie got the most joy working as a transportation operator for Jackson Public Schools for over 20 years and for The Mississippi School for the blind for several years before retiring. Being an avid outdoors person, Mamie was a true fisherwoman. She loved catching coolers of fish and having fish fries with her forily: in the prime of her life Mamie enjoyed hosting dance contests on weekends. She expressed her affections for her family on a daily basis reminding each of us how much she loved and cherished us. Marie was a passionate fan of the Blues music genre. She possessed an extensive collection of many of histories exceptional bives artist. As many of you may know, Marie was a practical joker who enjoyed playing with her grandchildren by dressing up with scary monster masks and chasing them around her house fall in good fun! They referred to their grandma Mamie as" Maded “ as a consequence of her tough disposition and street-smart approach to everything in life She also loved playing cards with her family. Marie loved sports such as basketball, football and professional wrestling. To speak with her on Sunday afternoons was to interrupt her football binge watching. She would often watch professional wrestling with her grandsons She raised her daughters to be strong resilient women, and inspired her grandchildren to be independent productive individuals. She always greeted callers, especially her family by saying " hey darlinf, and always ended her phone conversations by saying " I love yd “. Her personality portrayed her as one of a kind. Mamie increased her religious conviction and found spiritual consolation by virtually attending the Galilee Baptist Church of Detroit Michigan, pastored by her son-in-law, Tells Chapman. She would watch the worship services online every Sunday and delighted in listening to the choir sing, especially songs sung by Mrs. Virgie Willams. Mamie leaves a cherished legacy, 2 daughters Eunice Chapman (Tellis) of Detroit. Ml, and Linnie Kelly (Author) of Jackson, MS Seven grandchildren: Cecil, Art, Brandie, Candace, Vincent, Brannon, and Kobe Great Grand Children: Janae, Jonathan, Niya, Chloe, Artionna, Kobe k, Zydee and Zora.
