Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson was born in Pearl, MS to the late Leroy and Dora (Garrison) Johnson on February 19, 2041. She was the oldest of eight children. She is preceded in death by her beloved son Alfred Eugene Brown and his father Alfred Brown along with five brothers: Earnest Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Jr., Karl Ed Johnson, Walter Lee Johnson, and William Reed Johnson. Mary Ann accepted Christ at an early age, and faithfully attended Sweet Rest Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Pearl, MS. She graduated from Carter High School in Brandon, MS. Mary Ann worked at various jobs in the Jackson area before her young family moved to Wichita, KS. There she worked at Beech Aircraft, Cessna Aviation, and last Lear Jet. She was a sheet metal assembler for all three companies and was promoted to supervisor at Lear Jet. During her years in Wichita, she was a member of Strangers Rest Missionary Church, but moved to New Zion Missionary Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Prayer Band. Mary Ann returned to the Jackson area after 30 years to care for her mother and father. During this time Mary Ann became a member of New Dimensions International Church. She loved her church family and continued to participate in services and prayer lines via technology up to her last night on earth. She had a special bond with her 'Bishop and First Lady' and always spoke highly of their ministry and leadership. Mary Ann loved her family and took pleasure in visiting them in her home and theirs. She enjoyed playing various games, listening to taped sermons or gospel music from popular artist and family members. Many hours were spent watching or listening to sermons and singing. She liked to have fun, joke, and laugh. On several occasions she was seen 'shaking a leg' to the down-home blues at BBQs. Mary Ann was previously married to Alfred Brown and to this union five children were born: Barbara, Gene, Kay, Jennifer, and Trenda. On the morning of Monday, March 18, Mary Ann departed earth for her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memories; four daughters, Barbara (Don) of The Colony, TX, Kay (Fred), Jennifer (Anthony), and Trenda of Wichita, KS. A Sister, Ruby Lanell Johnson (Wichita), brother, Deacon Willie Earl Johnson (Jackson), ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great children along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
