Mr. Peter Holmes

In His own way and for His own purpose, God has reached down into our midst and called home our beloved one, Mr. Peter “Kite” Holmes to be with him eternity. He departed this life on August 4, 2023. Mr. Peter “Kite” Holmes was born January 25, 1952, to Frank and Willeaner Holmes. They both preceded him in death along with three brothers; Walter Holmes, Curtis Holmes and Frank Holmes Jr.; one sister Biller Holmes-Gardner; one daughter-in-law Pena Holmes. He was raised in Pearl, Mississippi, Rankin County, in the Greenfield Community. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was baptized at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pearl, MS. During his time, he rendered services as an usher and a choir member. One of his favorite songs was “Jesus Be a Fence Around Me”. Peter was a graduate of Carter High School, Brandon MS “Class of 1971”. During his high school years, Kite was very passionate about boxing. He wasn’t known as a big talker; however, he was known to knock his opponent out. Kite worked along with his father building highways along the east coast, Virginia down to Florida. Kite loved working with his hands as a Diesel Mechanic “welder” for over 30 years at a major Trucking Company. He also loved spending time with his family, watching western, gardening, fishing, and working on automobiles. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories a loving wife, Katherine Holmes; three daughters, Rosalind Holmes of Jacksonville, FL, Lakeshia Lonie of Pearl, MS, and Petra Holmes of Jackson, MS; one son, Peter S. Holmes of Byram, MS; special daughter, LeCole Hawkins; son-in-laws, BillyRay Lonie and Cedric McIntosh; eight grandchildren, Monique Lonie, Eleshia Lonie, Cadejah Lonie, TiShun Holmes, Tiajah Holmes, Tiyana Magee, Tyrese Holmes and Tamera Holmes, four great grandchildren Jamarion Williams, Elijah Parker, Ava Taylor, and Kinslee Lonie; three sisters, Mary Alexander, JoAnn (Al) Carter, Gloria Jenkins and two brothers, Joseph Holmes and Willie (Gwen) Holmes; mother-in law Roxie Fletcher; brother-in-law David Prymer, sister-in-laws Gwendolyn Simms, Deborah Prymer, and Tarsha Jenkins; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
