Mrs. Regenia Elaine Schaffer

Born July 2, 1964, the fourth child of the late Lloyd C. McLin, Sr. and Lucille Smith McLin, Regina Elaine McLin Schaffer was given the name by her dear aunt Ruth McLin Boyd. She was birthed by midwife Ms. Tweetie in Sandhill, Mississippi. Regina was known as “Gina" by close friends and family. Her family later moved to Jackson, Mississippi because her father was furthering his education and looking for more job opportunities When she was approximately nine (9) years of age, her family relocated to Brandon, Mississippi. She attended the Rankin County School District. Growing up, Gina was always a private and unique person. Sometimes she liked to be in company and sometimes she desired to be all alone. She was a dainty young lady who loved designer clothes and perfumes, shoes, houses, jewelry, cars and fancy hair-dos. Also, she was an animal lover, especially her dogs Coster and Brownie and her cat Jasper. Growing up, Gina and her family were members of their family church, Lee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sandhill, Mississippi. After experiencing life's natural highs and low's, Gina reached a plateau of spiritual maturity, and desired a stronger relationship with the Lord. Therefore, she adamantly sought to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Because of this, she united with Harvest Celebration Church of God in Christ, pastored by Elder Timothy T. Scott, Jr., in Jackson, Mississippi. It was evident that a transformation had taken place in her life. On March 12, 2009, she married James LaVaughn Schaffer in New Orleans, Louisiana after a long courtship. To this union, no children were born but she gained seven (7) step children, Marquisia, Ahmad, Mecca, Ebony, Jaqueria, Ashuntiarie and James. Her passion was helping the elderly and those with the inability to care for themselves. As a result, she enrolled in a nursing program that would assist her with getting the certification she needed to adequately care for individuals, including her eldest brother Michael who was born with cerebral palsy. Aside from being a member of the health profession, she was previously an entrepreneur, being the owner of "Gina's Boutique". She also owned and managed several rental properties in the Jackson, Mississippi area. The death angel slipped quietly in to the intensive care unit of the University Medical Center at approximately 11:53 pm. on February 13, 2021. At this juncture, her terminal battle with cancer abruptly ended and she transitioned peacefully to eternity. After her expiration, a member of her family found her Bible and she written notes to family members and prayers requests to God. Her travel arrangements were made in advance and her one way ticket to Heaven was ready. Regina created so many memories amongst family and friends. She was survived by her husband, James LaVaughn Schaffer; two sisters, Elease McLin and Katrina McLin, both of Brandon, Mississippi; her mother-in-law Linda Faye Sullivan; two (2) sisters-in-law Jennifer (Demond) Williams, Iris LaTonia Bishop, all of Jackson, Mississippi; one (1) brother-in-law Marc (Beldina) Schaffer of Memphis, Tennessee; three nephews, Terry McLin of Utica, Mississippi, Nicholas McLin of Jackson, Mississippi and Gowan (Nicole) McLin of Sacramento, California; three nieces, Alisha, Jalisa and Brianna McLin, all of Jackson, Mississippi; nine (9) great nephews and seven (7) great nieces; one uncle, Charles (Melbah) Smith of Brandon, Mississippi and three aunts, Ruthie Lee McLin of Jackson, Mississippi, Ruth Boyd of Morton, Mississippi and Johnnie McLin of Oakland, California. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George and Virginia McLin; her maternal grandparents, Alex Gelston Smith and Josie Lee Peterson Nash; her parents; Lloyd C. and Lucille McLin; three, brothers, Michael, Lloyd, Jr. and Maurice McLin and one (1) nephew, Calvin McLin. Other friends and family are left to cherish valuable times shared together and fond memories in their hearts forever.
