Will Henry Ward

Will Henry Ward transitioned into eternity on April 5, 2018 during a peaceful sleep in the comfort of home and in the presence of those who loved him the most, his family. He was the youngest child born to the late Josephine Lyles and Henry Ward, Sr. on June 18, 1928. His siblings, four sisters and three brothers proceeded him in death. He was also welcomed into eternity by two of his children, Edna Ruth Walker and Jessie Ray Ward. He attended Mt. Nebo School as a youth. He entered the workforce while he was very young. He worked at Pascal Lumber Company, Metropolitan Water Association and Parkplace Baptist Church where he was highly valued and appreciated. Will Henry was a life-long resident of the Langford community and a member of the True Vine Baptist Church. He practiced his faith through service to God and mankind. As a young man he was a faithful and musically gifted member of the Rock Star Travelers Quartet. In later years he served diligently at True Vine as an usher and yard marshal. In 1956, Will Henry married Roberta Winsley. For 62 years they enjoyed God’s blessings and overcame life’s challenges. They honored their nuptial commitment “til death we do part”. In their latter years when the children were all grown, and they were retired, their marital bond was strengthened as they faithfully worshiped together each Sunday, cared for each other, and maintained the best garden and the most immaculate lawn in the community. Will Henry loved community, and his community loved him. He was generous with his time and resources. Raccoon hunting and fishing were his favorite pastime, and always enjoyed challenging his neighbors in a friendly game of checkers after a hard day of work in his garden. Wonderful memories of times gone by will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. This includes his beloved wife Roberta, “Nat”; daughters, Gloria Cabrera, Josephine Proc- tor (Ricky); sons, Raphael, William (Virginia), Jeffery, Eric (Donna), Phillip. All are residents of Jackson and Brandon. His son-in-law, Eli Walker resides in Silver Spring, Maryland. Memories of Will Henry Ward will live on for decades in the hearts of his 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and l great grandchild. He will be fondly remembered as “Uncle Boy Ward” by five nieces, Grace Morrow, Idella Adams, Doris McClendon, Marian Fletcher and Bettye Ward Fletcher; two nephews, Dequince and Edward Ward. They are residents of Brandon, Atlanta, GA and Chicago, IL. Having witnessed Will Henry Ward’s Confession of Faith in Christ Jesus, his family therefore has peace and confidence in knowing because he is absent from his body he is therefore present with our God.
