Mrs. Annie Stine Hoard-Green

Mrs. Annie Stine Green was born in 1933 in Rankin County, Mississippi, she was the second oldest of 13 children to Elizabeth McKee. At the age of 3 months old, she was adopted by Hattie and Albert Hoard. As a child, she joined True Vine Baptist Church and was baptized at 9 years old. For her first year of schooling, Annie attended True Vine School. She matriculated on to attend Taylorsville School from 3rd to 8th grade. Annie furthered her education at the Southern Christian Institute in Edwards, Mississippi, until 1951, when she transferred to Brandon Colored School (later Carter High School), proudly becoming a member of the first graduating class. Her future husband, Ermon L. Green, was also a member of the six-person graduating class. Annie was a dedicated employee at Whitfield Institute from 1957 to 1959, and then transferred to Hudspeth Center, providing exceptional care to patients until her retirement in January 1985. Annie joined Saint Hill Church of God in Christ in 1987 and served there faithfully until her death. She served as Usher Board President, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, member of the Mother Board, and as President of the Women's Fellowship. Annie was proud of her travels through many states in the U.S. and sites in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Belgium. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Ermon L. Green, Sr. (1932-1983). They were married from 1952 until his death in 1983. To this union, there were six children born - 2 daughters: Mrs. Annie Laverne (James) Lockhart of Yazoo City, Mississippi and Ms. Patricia Taylor of Brandon, Mississippi; and 4 sons: Mr. Jerry (Han-Sun) Green of Bossier City, Louisiana; Mr. Richard (Angela) Green of Brandon, Mississippi; Mr. Ermon L. Green, Jr. of Mount Rainier, Maryland; and Mr. Purvie (Daphne) Green of Brandon, Mississippi. She is also survived by a family of 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 17 god-children. Annie is further survived by her 4 sisters: Mrs. Roberta Ward of Brandon, Mississippi; Mrs. Carrie Bell (James) Epps of Jackson, Mississippi; Dorothy (Dee) Adams of Brandon, Mississippi; Sylvia Baker of Saint Louis, Missouri; 2 sisters-in-law: Ms. Barbara McKee of Brandon, Mississippi and Ms. Darlene McKee of Gary, Indiana; 2 brothers Mr. Roy (Bettye) McKee of Chicago, Illinois and Mr. Eddie (Denise) McKee of Brandon, Mississippi; and 1 brother-in-law: Mr. JP Allen of Jackson, Mississippi. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nophews, family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
