Ms. Annie Mae Taylor

Annie Mae was born April 11, 1929 in Brandon, MS to Genie Gardner and John Washington. On Sunday, January 29th Annie Mae peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home. Annie Mae started her educational journey in the Brandon School System, When she started having children she put her education on hold until her youngest child reached school age, she then went to Carter High School and received her high school diploma. Annie Mae's Christian life started at True Vine Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. She later moved her membership to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and was a faithful member until her death. Annie Mae married the "Love of her Life" J. W. Taylor, loving called "J", on February 9th, 1947. This union produced 10 children. J.W. proceeded her in death, February 21, 2010. Annie Mae started her work history in the Pearl Public School System where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria. She continued work as a cafeteria worker for Deposit Guaranty Bank in Pearl, MS, then to Rankin General Hospital, where she worked until her health failed and she was no longer able to work. Annie Mae had many activities and hobbies, among the ones she enjoyed most was having fun with her many grandchildren. She was also a very avid Bible reader. When she could no longer read the Bible, she listened to it being read by her daughter. She loved gardening, crocheting, sewing (making many of her own clothing) and she was a quilter extraordinaire, many of which she gave away. Because of the generous and giving nature of Annie Mae and her husband, their home was a safe haven to many relatives and friends. They opened their doors and gave nurturing influence to all who came in need. At her death, Annie Mae leaves to love and cherish her memories, her ten children: Lawrence Washington of Pearl, MS, Earlean ( David) Hill, Pearl, MS, James(Authree) Taylor of Oakland, CA, Margaret Ann (Thomas) Holmes of Haywood, CA, Aaron (Mona) Taylor of Pearl, MS, Shirley Travis of Pearl, MS, Rosemary Stamps of Vicksburg, MS, Ada Chambers of Pearl, MS, Michael (Darlene) Taylor, Sr. of Pearl, MS and Linda Taylor of Oakland, CA. One special niece/daughter Cheryl (Louis) Robinson of Jackson, MS and one adopted son Pastor Rickie ( Denise) Sutton of Flowood, MS, four Sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gertha Washington, Mrs. Earlean Washington, Bonnie Washington and Ida Bea Francis, three Sons-in-law; K.C. Travis, Charlie Stamps, Jr. and Freddie Chambers, twenty-siX grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
