Evangelist Aresia Durr

Aresia Durr was born on November 28, 1943 to Carey and Jennie Proctor in Brandon, Mississippi where she graduated from Carter High. In 1964 she married her prestigious husband of 51 years; Earnest Lee Durr. In 1965 the young couple moved to East Chicago, Indiana and eventually settled in Gary, Indiana where they were blessed and prospered while raising three children. Aresia was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana until she selflessly returned home to raise her children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her early 20s and never looked back. Aresia was God focused as she knocked on doors in the church street ministry, held bible study, host shut-ins and church services in the basement of her home. She was passionate and aspiring to many, a true soldier in God’s Army, Prayer Warrior, always ready and willing to spread the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. Aresia diligently served in the church for over 55 years while serving in various esteemed roles such as Evangelist, First Lady of Greater Faith COGIC, First Lady of Miracle Temple COGIC, District Missionary in the State of Indiana and Church Mother at Saint Hill COGIC. Aresia Durr was a rock, steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord. She will receive many crowns in Heaven for her works and the innumerable souls she led to Christ. Aresia touched many lives and will be missed but never forgotten. Aresia was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Lee Durr Sr.; parents, Carey and Jennie Proctor; brothers, Charles Proctor and Carey (Lucille) Proctor Jr.; sisters Eva (Milton) Jones and Mattie Knight. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories three children; Ernest (Lynette) Durr, Carolyn Renee and Darrell Durr; brothers, Rickey (Josephine) Proctor and Richard Proctor; sisters, Geneva (Milton) Williams and Victoria (Charles) Gaither all of Brandon, Mississippi; in-laws, Maybell Taylor and David Durr; 7 grandchildren (Jovonte, Erin, Kamila, Carolyn, Derrell, Chaleen, Christopher), 2 great grandchildren (Jovonte Jr., Jayden), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
