Rev. Arthur Lee Washington

Reverend Arthur Lee Washington was born April 12, 1933 to Joe and Marie Perkins Washington of Fannin, Mississippi. Reverend Washington joined Truelight Church at a very early age. He was instrumental in starting Sunday School at Truelight Church along with J. T. Griffith and Leroy Burnett. He began preaching at an early age, helping Reverend J. I. Truevillion with Sunday Service and Revivals. Reverend Washington married Dorothy Ervin on January 1952, who preceded him in death. In the 1959s, he and his family moved to Saginaw, MI where he worked and retired from General Motors after 33 years. Reverend Washington married Vealea Washington who preceded him in death. Reverend Washington was the founder and pastor of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Saginaw, MI from 1965 to 1970. He later pastored Second Baptist Church from 1970 to 1984 of Idlewild, MI. He served faithfully as Associate Pastor at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI. Reverend Washington later joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church pastored by his brother, Reverend Otis Washington. Reverend Washington said he was a country boy so he loved the out-doors. He enjoyed attending church services and listening to old Gospel singing and preaching on TV. He loved spending time with his family. He loved when his grandchildren came around and talked about old days living in Fannin. In November of 2022, his health began to decline, so his daughters assisted him in returning back to Fannin, living in the home of Reverend Marin and Diane McLaurin. On February 1, 2023 he went home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Marie Washington; sons, Arthur (AC) Washington, George Washington, Tommy Washington and Willie Wash-ington; sisters Willie M. Clayton, Bernice Donald, Gloria Calhoun, Rosie P. Neloms, Florence M. Scott, Pauline Luke, Jospine Bradley and Foris-tine Washington and brother John D. Washington. Reverend Washington leaves to mourn his memories, children: Diane (Reverend Marvin) MacLaurin, Debrah (William) Woods, Jessie (Mary) Washington, Eric (Yolanda) Ervin, and Reverend Melvin (Benita) Ervin; a special grandson, whom he raised, DeVorious Laster; daughters-in-law, Viola Washington and Rosalind Washington; one loving brother, Reverend Otis Washington; sister Dorothy James) Donald; stepsisters: Deloris Langston and Katherine (Sam) Felton. Reverend Washington also leaves to cherish his memories, one uncle, Isaiah Washington; one sister-in-law, Louise Burnett, fifteen grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
