Mr. Carl Edward Washington

Carl Edward Washington 69 of Florence, MS, departed this life on November 7, 2025 at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital. He was born November 10, 1955 in Florence, MS, to the Late Clifton Avon Washington and Callie Evans Washington. At an early age Carl Washington received Jesus as his LORD and Savior and united with Brown Hill Missionary Baptist Church. There he served faithfully in several capacities as Trustee, Superintendent of the Sunday School, President of the male Choir, and President of the Brotherhood. Carl graduate from Florene High School in May of 1973. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17 in November of 1973. He was in special forces (The Green Bert) for 6 years. He started working for Mississippi Valley Gas Co. on February 4, 1975 as a laborer. Through the years worked his way up to one of the highest paid jobs in the Bargaining Union, where he held the title as Measurement Control Specialist "A". Carl met the love of his life Ms. Doris Day Reed on September 1, 1989 and married her on September 2, 1991 Carl always tried to encourage young people that you can be just what you want to be. Just put God first and set your goals. Carl was always a cheerful, joyful, and smiling person to be around. He didn't meet any strangers, he would welcome you to his home and made you feel like family. Carl enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, and cooking but his favorite was hunting. He Leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Anthony Washington, and Kenyatta (Tena) Reed. three brothers: Charles Washington of Florence MS, Harry (Carolyn, deceased) Washington of Richland, MS; and Ricky (Karen) Washington of South Carolina; two step-son; Terrell Washington and Tony Butler; and one stepdaughter; Torrence Smith, five grandchildren and one great-grand, and host of nieces, nephews, and relative and friends. He had two special friends that were just like a brothers to him; Michael Myers and Bernard Mclaurin. Alexis Bilbro was a caregiver and a sister to him. Annette Wade, and Special cousin that was by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifton and Callie Evans Washington, two brothers Larry and Bennie Washington; two uncles Reverend S. J. Washington and George D. Washington; and three aunties; Ruth Washington Fields, Ruby Washington Thompson, and Ethel Washington Williams.
