Mr. Clarence Clyde "Buddy" Davis

Clarence Clyde Davis, departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the age of 66. Clarence, lovingly known to family and friends as "Buddy," was a lifelong Mississippian who made his home in Jackson, Mississippi, where he was known for his kind heart and deep love for his family. Clarence was born on October 7, 1959, to the late Pearl Harper Davis and Clyde Davis. He was raised in a large, loving family where the bonds between siblings were strong and lasting. A proud graduate of Florence High School, Class of 1978, Clarence believed in the value of hard work and dedication. Over the years, he built a career marked by reliability and commitment. He began his working years at Holiday Inn in Jackson before continuing his career at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon and later with the Water Company in Florence. He ultimately found his professional niche at St. Dominic Hospital, where he faithfully served for many years as a Plant Operator. On April 26, 2004, Clarence married the love of his life, Jacqueline Davis, at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Together they shared 22 wonderful years of marriage built on faith and love. Clarence was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening, fishing, horseback riding, and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful, well-kept yard. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved horses, Penny and Longshot, whose companionship brought him much happiness over the years. Clarence loved spending time with his family and enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially honey and home-cooked meals made by his wife and sisters. Most importantly, Clarence loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he actively served as a dedicated member of the Brotherhood Ministry. His willingness to serve others reflected the Christian life he sought to live each day. His love and dedication to his family will be missed most. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Harper Davis and Clyde Davis; sister, Thelma Davis; and brother, David Davis. Clarence leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife, Jacqueline Davis of Jackson, Mississippi; children, Deontee (Evon) Shelton of Galveston, Texas, and Carra Burnley of Jackson, Mississippi; grandchildren: Jailyn Shelton, Jada Shelton, Cam'ron Shelton, Jordin Blakely, Deontee Shelton Jr, Cortez Jones Jr, Janise Shelton, and Chloe Moore; sisters: Annie Jewel (Robert) Williams of Jackson, Mississippi; Shelby Jean (Calloway) Barnes of Florence, Mississippi; Beverly (Albert) Lewis of Florence, Mississippi; Phoebe Gray of Jackson, Mississippi; Virginia Gale Hamilton of Byram, Mississippi; Kate (Sammy) Lewis of Florence, Mississippi; Arlene (Dennis) Davis of Florence, Mississippi; and Velma (Kevin) Catchings of Florence, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family. Clarence will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
