Mrs. Cliffie Williams

Ciffie "Punkin" Williams, at the golden age of 99, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in her home, doing what she loved, "cutting greens" preparing for Sunday dinner, while talking to her boys. On April 4, 1926, Cliffie "Punkin" Williams was born the 2nd of 8 children to the late Sylvester and Linnie Cook. Born and raised in Carthage, MS, Cliffie accepted Christ at an early age at Tribulation MB Church of Carthage, MS. She attended Leake County School where she played basketball. She married the late Eddie B. Williams Sr., and to this union, 9 children were born. The Williams family later moved to Jackson, MS, to the area in which she was well known and loved, called Subdivision #1. She spent her days fishing, cooking for her children and grandchildren, and caring for her great grandchildren. Cliffie was quiet, warm-welcoming, sweet, mild-mannered, and sharp as a whistle. She loved to see others have a good time. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and sense of humor endeared her to everyone she met. Cliffie lived a full, active, extraordinary life of 99 years, full of love, wisdom and strength. Preceding her in death by her husband, Eddie B. Williams Sr.; her parents Sylvester and Linnie Cook; ALL her siblings, Essie Simmons, Susie Mae Leflore, Paul Cook. Johnny Cook Jake Cook R.C. Cook and Wade Cook: three children, Annie Lois Williams, Shirley Blocker and Johnny Levon Williams; Four grandchildren, Latoya Williams, Timothy Blocker, Marcus Butler and Ricky Williams. She leaves behind four generations of legacy including, Eddie B. Williams Jr (Lana) of Carthage, MS; Mary Rose Butler of Jackson, MS; Maggie Billingsley of Jackson, MS; Sylvester Williams (Shirley) of Utica, MS. Bernestine Hatfield (Gary) of Byram, MS and Cedric Williams of Jackson, MS. She also raised two of her grandchildren, Tracey Brown (Dwight) of Brandon, MS and Brittney Spells (Cordarius) of Byram, MS. A special aunt, gloria Skinner and three special friends, Bettye White, Pauline Hart, and Lillie Pearl Richinson. 28 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, a multitude of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
