Mrs. Dessie Ree Trigg-Spann

Many daughters have done virtuously. But thou excellest them all. Proverbs 31:29 A virtuous woman, faithful servant, God fearing woman, extraordaire mother, sister, aunt, neighbor, friend, and "MaMe." Dessie is an example of such an individual, a woman of essence ad elegance, a woman of distinction. On November 30, 1935, Mrs. Dessie Ree Trigg Spann was born in Jackson, Mississippi to the late William and Mattie Trigg Sr. She was the fifth of ten children. She worked many years as a cook at Carter High School. In 1971 she began working at Rankin General Hospital. At an early age Dessie confessed her life to Christ at St. James U.M. Church. Dessie was a faithful member who was apart of the Usher board, choir, Sunday school secretary, and chairperson of homecoming Committee until her health failed, Dessie Ree exemplified God's unconditional love and was a servant of God all her life. Dessie received her education with Carter high school and graduated in 1957. She was an all-America sportsman, she played basketball for Carter High School She also played for Rankin General Softball team where she was the pitcher. She was awarded MVP for her outstanding job she performed. Mrs. Dessie was united in holy matrimony to Richard C. (Peter) Spann on May 06, 1962. To this union three children were born. She loved fishing, traveling, cooking, singing and the Dallas Cowboy. She earned her name" Mame" by her grandchildren and by children she babysat. On Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 8:50 p.m. God assembled a heavenly host of Angels, to greet Dessie as her final and most precious honor, her crown of glory. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Freddie Trigg Sr.; Earl Trigg Sr.; William Trigg Jr; J.D. Trigg; Walter Trigg, Sr. and one loving granddaughter LaSidra Kenee' Spann. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard Carroll Spann, Sr. her dedicated daughter, Shornita Spann Shavers Clames Earl) of Brandon, MS; two loving sons Richard C. Spann Jr. (Michelle) of Brandon, MS; Roland C. Spann (Charlotte) of Collins, MS; her Grandchildren LaCedric K. Spann (Shandrea) of Utica, MS; LaQuinton K. Shavers of Brandon, MS; Richard C. Spann III and Kailey S. Spann both of Brandon, MS; Davion Owens and Kennedy Adams of Collins, MS, Great grandchildren Owen Spann, Lailah Spann, Jayce Spann, Jabari Spann, and Alayah Shorter. Four sisters; Dorothy Trigg Bryant of Flowood, MS, Flosie Trigg Jones of Brandon, MS, Lee Mary Burton of Pearl, MS, Mary Alice Trigg- Griffin (Kilvin) of jackson, MS; Two brothers John Trigg (Thelma), Tony Trigg (Floree) both of Pearl, MS. Five sisters-in-law, Clara Trigg, Shirley Trigg, of Jackson, MS; Deloris Trigg of Pearl, MS; Shirley Spann and Betty Mae Spann of Brandon, MS; She also Leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
