Ms. Dorcas Renee Reed

Dorcas Renee Reed was born on January 2, 1985, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Doris Reed Obasi and Evan Obayusi. She was the second of two children and was lovingly raised by her mother and grandmother, the late Mary Reed, whose love and guidance helped shape the resilient woman she became. Dorcas attended Jackson Public Schools, where she formed many lifelong friendships and developed the warm, outgoing personality that would become her trademark. She was known for her genuine spirit, smile, and the ability to make others feel welcomed and loved. On June 25, 2026, Dorcas peacefully departed this life at her home in Jackson, Mississippi Although her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Dorcas was a loving mother whose greatest joy in life was her children. She was blessed with six children, and although she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her beloved son, William Tellis III ("Redd"), who preceded her in death, she continued to pour love into her family every day. To know Dorcas was to love her. She never met a stranger and had an extraordinary gift for making people laugh. Her loud, contagious laugh, quick wit, and truthful sense of humor could brighten even the darkest day. She was outspoken in the best way-honest, genuine, and always willing to speak from the heart. She built lasting friendships everywhere she went and left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Family was the center of Dorcas' life. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly, always making sure those she loved felt special. She was known for remembering everyone's birthday, celebrating every milestone, and showing up for the people she cared about. Whether offering encouragement, sharing a laugh, or simply spending time with loved ones, Dorcas made every moment meaningful. Dorcas was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Doris Reed Obayusi and Evan Obayusi; her grandmother, Mary Reed; and her cherished son, William Tellis III ("Redd"). She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children: Ms. Shakaira Reed of Madison, MS, Angel Reed, Keonta Reed, Exzavyen Reed, and Treyevon Reed and her two grandchildren, Ari and Amir Reed all of Jackson, MS. She also leaves her brother, Damien Reed; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, treasured friends, and all whose lives were forever touched by her kindness, laughter, and unconditional love, Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we celebrate a life that was lived with love, compassion, strength, and authenticity, Dorcas leaves behind beautiful memories, enduring friendships, and a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
