Ms. Dorothy Ann Warren

Dorothy Ann Warren (Dothann) was born February 22, 1948 in Jackson, MS to the late Johnnie Jones Sr. and Mary Lee Warren. She was especially blessed to have been reared by a special aunt and uncle the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy (Maggie) Taylor. At an early age Dot accepted Christ and joined Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A J Thompson. After moving to Jackson MS, she became a member of Lane Chapel CME Church where she holds the tifle of being one of the longest original members and is now under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Laura Powell. She was a faithful member at Lane Chapel and was even Mother of the year. She loved her church and was always acknowledged by her church for her skills in the kitchen, as her church members could always count on one of her fine cakes or anything asked of her by them. Dorothy Ann grew up in Brandon, MS and graduated from Carter High School in 1966. Dorothy Ann provided 28 dedicated years of service to the Pearl City School District. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, preparing delicious pies, teacakes and her one of a kind carrot cake for her family and friends. As if that wasn't enough, she was a seamstress, a master quilt maker, community nurturer, and an archivist as she knew everyone's birthday. She enjoyed her phone time as well, checking in on EVERYBODY, and caring for anyone she thought needed a little care and concern. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Michael and William Scott, Jr., and sisters, Paula Pittman and Lynda Kaye Daniels. She leaves to cherish her memories: sisters- Gail (Paxton) Paige of Raymond, MS, Lesia Scott of Miami, FL, Jean Jones, Patricia Mannery, Debra (Chester) of Jackson, MS, Lorraine(Leon) Billingsley of Madison, MS, Gail (Corey) Alleyne of North Carolina, and Lisa Dennis) of Florence, MS; brothers- Johnnie Jones Jr. and Steve Mannery of Jackson, MS; Aunts- Hannah Cain of Clinton MS, Henrietta Brown of Jackson MS, Dorothy (John) Briggs of Tugaloo, MS, Elizabeth Ahmad of Hunting, NY, and Birdie Warren of San Antonio, TX. Sister/cousins; Pearl (James) Smith of Aurora, IL, brother/cousin: Mr. Joe Ed Wallace of Fannin MS; special sister, Almeda Harmon ot Brandon, MS, and a special brother Steve Williams of Jackson MS; She also loved her girls club, Mrs. Geraldine Caston Clinton, MS, Sister Ruby Cannon Jackson, MS, traveling partner Ms. Ruby L. Sims Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved friends.
