Mr. Eddie B. Dillard

Our beloved Eddie B. Dillard was born on May 28, 1953, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Jackie James Dillard, Sr., and Sallie Mae Thornton Dillard. He was preceded in death by his brother Jackie James Dillard, Jr., his son Carlos Littleton, his daughter Natasha Frazier, his parents, his sweetheart Dwanda "Poochie" Jones, and recently his Uncle Reverend William Thornton.. Eddie B. was reared in a Christian home and loved the Lord. He gave his life to Christ and joined the Greater Now Tunlight Missionary Baptist Church, where he participated in the music ministry. He loved music, and he had a beautiful singing voice. He used his musical gift to glorify the Lord by singing in the church choir. He loved Truelight and was an active member until his health began to decline. His primary and secondary education was acquired in the Jackson Public Schools. Eddie B. was an optimistic and amicable gentleman, with a lively sense of humor. After high school, Eddie B. enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years. He was proud of his military service. He would enjoy saluting any veteran whom he encountered wearing an 82nd Airborne cap, with the customary motto "All the Way, Airborne After returning home from the military, Eddie was gainfully employed until his disability. Two significant places of his employment were the Steel Mill and then the Tree Source. He worked at the Tree Source for 20 years, planting and nurturing trees. One would say that Eddie B. had a "green thumb" because he had a natural talent for growing plants. Eddie B. thoroughly loved life and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a kind and gentle soul; unassuming and drama-free. He was quiet, preferring to be in the background, but always willing to lend a helping hand. Some of his favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren, hanging out with his siblings, attending family gatherings, cultivating his plants, singing in the choir, listening to music, watching his favorite television shows, etc. He had numerous friends and will be remembered for nis good nature, giving spirit, authenticity, compassion for others, beautiful singing voice, humorous personality, and his love for Jesus Christ. During the early morning of September 20, 2023, our Lord and Savior called Eddie B. to his Heavenly home. Eddie B. leaves to cherish precious memories: his daughter Tareka (Robert) Cheruiyot and his son Eddie Ricardo (Michelle) Littleton; grandchildren Antonio and Reva Cheruiyot, numerous other grandchildren; eight surviving siblings, Bertha Ruth, Linda (Carlton), Patricia (Mike, Jr.), David, Henry, Brenda Faye, Pamela, and Shirley (Lee); nieces: Christina Denise, Tanya "Candy," April, Dwendolyn, Kimberly, Brittany (Victor), Justice; nephews: Mike III (Chineta), Titus (Brittany), Jacob (Deja), Joel; one uncle: Sgt. Maj. Joseph (Rumiko) Thornton; four aunts: Emma Lee Vance, Evelyn T. (Hoy) Young Marie Thornton, Connie (Louis) Jackson; a host of cousins, great nieces & nephews, other relatives, friends; and his Truelight Church Family.
