Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Brown Taylor

Elizabeth Ruth Brown Taylor, age 79, departed this earthly life on February 25, 2022. Elizabeth was born April 26, 1942, to the late Mary Caston Brown in Brandon, Mississippi. Elizabeth joined Rock Star Missionary Baptist Church at the age of seven of her own free will, under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Luckett and was baptized in “Busick Pond”. She faithfully served at Rock Star M.B. Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Chair of the Nominating Committee and founder and chair of the Hospitality Ministry, to name a few, until her death. Elizabeth attended the Brandon “Colored School” at the age of five until a new school was built for blacks, named Carter High School. She graduated at the age of 16 as valedictorian of her class, and later attended Jackson State University as a math major. She began working at an early age at local homes cleaning, ironing, and babysitting. Later as an adult she worked at the US Department of Agriculture, proceeding to become a License Practical Nurse at University of Mississippi Medical Center, and later advancing to a Registered Nurse. Elizabeth worked as a Registered Nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for 36 years until retirement. Elizabeth was joined in marriage at the age of eighteen to Archie Lee Taylor. To this union, three sons were born: Archie Leron Taylor, Edward Ray Taylor, and Keith Bernard Taylor. A marriage that lasted her lifetime, always giving thanks and praise to God Almighty for His blessing, love, and care of the family she was given. Leaving to cherish her memories are her husband, Archie Lee Taylor of 61 years, her three sons, Archie (Mary)Taylor of Brandon, Mississippi, Edward (Lori) Taylor of Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Keith (Julia) Taylor of Fayetteville, Georgia and one stepdaughter, Belinda Williams of Cerritos, California; fifteen grandchildren, Kristy Taylor of Germantown, Maryland, Karen Taylor of College Park, Georgia, Justin Taylor of Brooklyn, New York, Sydney and Evan Taylor of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Lakia Taylor of, Houston, Texas, Alisha, Larissa, Emmanuel Taylor of Brandon, Mississippi, Andrew, Joshua, Christopher Taylor of Fayetteville, Georgia, Elizabeth (Brian) Carter of Jackson, Mississippi and Taylor and Bryan Williams of Cerritos, California. Four great-grandchildren, Amari, Ezekiel, Elijah, Isaiah Carter of Jackson, Mississippi Two sisters, Marguerite (Billy) Carter, Bobbie Proctor (Ernest) of Brandon, Mississippi and one brother Bailey (Linda) Brown of Brandon, Mississippi and many close relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister Clara Anne Walker (Roddie) of San Diego California.
