Deacon George Willie Taylor, Jr.

George Willie Taylor, Jr. was bor August 29, 1971, in Jackson, Mississippi to George Willie Taylor Sr. and Katherine Taylor. He was the fourth child of the late George Willie Taylor Sr., surviving stepmother, Annie Lee Taylor and mother, Katherine Taylor. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Brandon, MS under the leadership of Dr. Ava S. Harvey Sr. until God called him home to rest on November 29, 2023. While becoming an active and dedicated member, he joined the Male Chorus, Sanctuary Choir and YE where he carried the Baritone sound. He loved to sing and sounded pretty good when he could find the note. He was a member of the Youth Department. He loved working with and mentoring the children, especially during his creation from God, Kids Night Out. The youth loved him to death. If you can't find your child, just look for George! During this period, he coached a coed softball team resulting in them winning a trophy. He later accepted the responsibility and took on the challenges of a Deacon. Two of his last wishes for the Pilgrim Rest Family was to have another Kids Night Out and cook wings and fries. You can rest easier now PRMBC family, George is taking care of business in Heaven!!! George graduated in 1989 from Notthwest Rankin High School. He continued his education at Hinds Community College where he majored in Carpentry. While attending HCC, he became one of the most dynamic defensive football players (linebacker) in the State of Mississippi. George was very intelligent. His knowledge was endless, which he loved sharing. He was an outstanding youth mentor and football coach. He also enjoyed playing softball. He was one of the best softball coaches and first basemen. George could send a softball sailing until it disappeared. While maintaining his own business Taylor and Taylor Construction, he continued to work with Elite Enterprise Construction where he continued sharing his knowledge. The results of his work brought joy and relief to others! George was a gentle giant. He loved as God loves. He cared about everybody and everything. He was funny and didn't know it. His daily priority was loving God, family, friends, those he did not know and instilling laughter in them all any way he could. He found joyousness in making others smile and laugh. Cooking, hunting, fishing and outdoor activities were some of the highlights of his life. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren until it hurt. He was loved by many, just the same. This he did until he took his last breath. On November 29, 2023, at 11:45 P.M. in River Oaks Hospital, while still bringing laughter to the staff, God whispered to his child, your time on earth is completed. Well done my good and faithful servant, well done. George's everlasting memories will be cherished by: his loving wife, Marilyn E. Taylor; children: Ashley Taylor and Jasmine Taylor, Florence, MS, Stanley Lemon Jr., Jackson, MS; grandchild: Elias Taylor, Brandon, MS; great grandchild: Paris Taylor, Brandon, MS; brothers and sisters: Levertis Williams (Lorraine Williams), Miami, FL, Melissa Clay, Fannin, MS, Jannie Miller, Byram, MS, Terricia Anderson (Reginald Anderson), Terry, MS, Cassandra Davis, Vaughan, MS, Chattie Levy, Jackson, MS, step-brother: Earnest Rogers (Rose Rogers), Fannin, MS.; sister-n-law: Barbara Abram, McComb, MS, brother-n-laws: Herman Abram Jt., Gatesville, TX, Charles Abram, (Stephanie Abram), Clinton, MS, Robert Abram, Olympia Washington. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
