Mr. Isaac Earnest Bryant, Sr.

Isaac Earnest Bryant, Sr. was born on March 23, 1943 to Booker T. Bryant, Sr. and Ruth Mae Jones Bryant in Rankin County, Mississippi. He was the eighth of twelve children. Some of his fondest memories included growing up on the family farm. He was very proud of the animals they owned. As a young boy, he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and his grandmother, Charlotte Bryant, and hearing stories from the Bible. This led him to accept Christ as his savior at an early age, and he joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. Shortly after graduating from Carter High School in Brandon, Mississippi, he was swept off his feet by a wonderful, sweet, beautiful lady named Alberta Lewis. They married on September 28, 1963. They settled in the Taylorsville Community, and Isaac joined St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Flowood, Mississippi to accompany his wife, in order to worship together. They were married for 50 years until her death on April 4, 2014. Eight children were born to this union, of which a set of twins, Alex and Angela, preceded them in death on November 11, 1966. Since wife Alberta's death in 2014, three precious daughters: Jacqueline Bryant (2018), Latrina Bryant Catchings (2021), Rose Mary Bryant Rogers (2024); and grandson, Jason Bryant (2015) preceded him in death. Isaac worked at Stone Container in Flowood, Mississippi for many years until his retirement. Isaac often shared memories of faithful ones encouraging him to always assist when needed. While being a member of St. Matthew M.B. Church, he was ordained as a deacon with his pastor J.C. Weathersby by his side. Because of his humbleness, he was loved and spoken highly of by many. Pastor James Curtis Cooper, Sr. of St. Matthew M.B. Church was included in the many. On July 22, 2024, Pastor Cooper passed away suddenly. Isaac fell asleep in death on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at his home. He was the last surviving child of Booker (1993) and Ruth (1981) Bryant's twelve children. In addition to his parents, wife, grandson, and daughters, Isaac was preceded in death by his eight brothers: Booker, Jr. (1972), Paul 1974), Charles 1980), Thomas (1986), Wilbert 1996), Frank (2005), Leroy (2013), and Lawrence (2015); his three sisters: Rev. Lillian Moore (2015), Dorothy Bilbro (2016), and Mary Lindsey (2021). He leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Isaac Bryant, Jr., Shirley (Wealton) Beverly, and Christopher Bryant, all of Brandon, MS, and Laquita (Billy) Sanders of Jackson, MS; Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Sons-In-Law: Earnest Rogers and Timothy Catchings; Brothers-In-Law: Rev. Lloyd C. Moore, Lindsey Lewis, and Anderson Feazell; Sisters-In-Law: Mattie Bryant, Betty Bryant, Ruby Lewis, Jeanette Lewis, and a special friend, Easter McGee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
