Mr. John Henry Brown Sr.

John Henry Brown, Sr., 74 of Brandon, Mississippi passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Merit Health Medical Center. He was born to Henry and Mamie Brown on February 1, 1945. Both of his parents preceded him in death. John Henry attended Evergreen Church School with Ms. Ida Marshall. He later went to Pelahatchie High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Paulette Stokes. They were united October 1, 1963. From this union, four children were born; Annette (Stanley) Griffith, Gloria (Ronald) Hodges, Dwight (Tracey) Brown, and John Henry (Shirley) Brown, Jr. He had one daughter to precede him in death, Rhonda Ragsdale. John Henry gave his life to Christ at an early age, he became a member at Evergreen United Methodist Church. He served at his home church until he completed his earthly assignment. He held the positions of Sunday School Superintendent, Nominating Committee Member, Sunday School Teacher and Chair Person of PPR. John Henry worked in a number of positions early in life, then with Milwaukee Electric Tools where he retired with 30 years of service. John Henry has also served at the Evergreen Water Association as Vice President for approximately 30 years. During his free time, he loved to garden and visit with friends and family. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was the bus driver for the Forever Young Ministry until his health started to decline. He loved this position. John Henry leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Paulette Brown of Brandon, Mississippi; daughters Annette (Stanley) Griffith of Brandon, Mississippi and Gloria (Ronald) Hodges of Jacksonville, Florida; sons, Dwight (Tracey) Brown and John Henry (Shirley) Brown, Jr. both of Brandon, Mississippi; two sisters Annie Burch of Atlanta, Georgia and Dessie Brown of Brandon, Mississippi; one brother Earnest (Lorriane) Brown of Brandon, Mississippi; one aunt, Sudie McKee of Brandon, Mississippi; sixteen grandchildren, LaCretia, D’wanna, Jessica, Brandie (preceded him in death), Teonna, Kelsey, Alona, Toy'nel, Dwight, Jalen, Shayla, Jonathan, Justin, Ronitia, Courtney and Dominique as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
