Mrs. Loretta Blair

LORETTA BLAIR was born to the late Holman Blair and Annie Royal Blair in Bolivar County, Mississippi on April 8, 1955. She departed this life on October 2, 2023, at the home of her sister (Lela Royal Howard) in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Loretta was joined in matrimony to Elder Clarence Palmer by the late Elder Roosevelt Greenwood. Elder Palmer preceded her in death. Loretta was reared in a godly home and attended St. Peter Church of God in Christ in Shaw, Mississippi. After moving to Cottondale, a farm between Ruleville and Doddsville Mississippi, she attended Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Ruleville, Mississippi. The family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1967. There Loretta attended Powerhouse Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Samuel Garner. After coming to live with her sister in Clarksdale she faithfully attended St. Luke Church of God in Christ in Moorhead, Mississippi. Loretta Graduated from Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1972. After graduating from high school she went to Ambassador College that was headed by Herbert W. Armstrong. Later, as a result of watching the adventures of Jacques Cousteau, Loretta traveled to and lived on islands like Yap and Guam. Loretta often expressed her desire to follow the path of back to nature. Her yard was filled with herbs. She had an avid interest in organic gardening. She was a member of the Heifer Project. She owned goats and desired to own cows, etc. Loretta was a very gifted lady. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She had an earned bachelor's degree in science. She taught at Saints College, in public schools and in private schools. She also tutored many children and helped many online students earn their bachelor's, master's and even doctoral degrees. Loretta moved to Lexington, Mississippi in the 1990's to take care of our Aunt, the late Missionary Lela Al-exander. She remained in Lexington until God's providence brought her to her sister, Lela Howard's house on December 1, 2022. There she remained until her death. Her father, Holman Blair, her mother, (Annie Royal), sisters Ernestine Royal Lipford and Ethel Royal Hullum), brother (George Royal) preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter (Sara Taylor) of Durant, Mississippi; Three grandchildren (Benjimen Funchess, Rebekah Blair and Joseph Taylor) of Clarksdale, Mississippi; Four sisters: (Annette Marsh of Detroit, Michigan, Esther Peacock of Chicago, Illinois, Lela Howard of Clarksdale, Mississippi and Annie Mae Blair Mc Vane of Milwaukee, Wis-consin); Three brothers (Melvin Blair of Tampa, Florida, Edward Blair of Ruleville, Mississippi and James Blair of San Diego, California. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
