Lorine Thames Graham

Lorine Thames Graham was born to the union of the late Rev. Willie L. Thames and Ella M. Jefferson on December 9, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. Lorine, a servant who remained faithful until the end, was called to Glory on January 16, 2018 at 4:00 a.m. surrounded by loved ones. Her spiritual journey started at Greater Star MB Church in Chicago where she was baptized at an early age. Upon relocation to Rankin County, MS, Lorine united with Good Hope MB Church. She was a regular attendant at Sunday School and Worship Services. As a member of the Missionary Society, Lorine actively served on the Sharing and Caring Circle and as a Captain on the Finance Com mittee. At church sponsored Health Fairs, she could be depended on to show up with a stethoscope, BP cuff, and thermometer to take vitals and serve as needed. Lorine was a product of the Chicago Public School System. She attended and graduated from Crane High School. Later, she attended Hinds Jr. College and graduated with cosmetology certification from Utica Jr. College. Her first place of employment was at Edgewater Hospital and then at Speigel's in Chicago. In MS, she was employed as a Nurse's assistant at Hinds General Hospital. Later, Lorine operated a beauty shop out of her home. She served many clients in the Rankin County and Jackson area. In 1989, Lorine was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease but her story did not end there. She underwent weekly dialysis treat ments for 29 years. Through the years, Lorine was the voice of encouragement for countless other dialysis patients. As her health failed over the years, she never lost her faith, that winning smile or the softly spoken positive and encouraging words for others. Lorine is predeceased by her mother and father; sisters, Melba Moore and Mary Thames; brother, Willie L. Thames, Jr., and grandchildren, Antoin Fountain and Ayana Thames. Left to treasure loving memories are: Eva Thames, her stepmother who raised her: sons: Donnell Thames and Jackie Graham (Shaunder); daughters: Gwen Meeks, Brenda Fountain (Dave), and Nataska Garner; Sisters: Mildred Dorsey (Ronnie), Bobbie Kitchens (Robert), Shirley Ann Collins (Willie Earl), Sandra Sanders (Kenneth) and Linda Minor; Brothers: Mickey Garrett (Faye), Woodrow Moore (Gemma), Melvin Moore and Rickey Moore; grandchildren: Larell Garner, Chris Bell, Napoleon Burch, Bernice Fountain, Mesha Fountain, Rickey Fountain and Brandon Watson; nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
