Mr. Louis Daniel Walker

Mr. Louis Daniel Walker, born May 12, 1932, in Mendenhall (Simpson County), Mississippi to the union of Arthur Walker and Ida Lynn Newsome Walker, both of whom preceded him in death. On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, following a brief illness and surrounded by his children, God deemed it the appropriate time to summon His child home. Born into a large family of siblings who enjoyed lots of love, hard work, and religious training, "L. D." as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ at a very early age and united with the Rock Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful and devoted member until his death. Over the many decades of his membership in Rock Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, he served in many capacities and offices including Deacon, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, assistant chairman of the Deacon Board and church custodian. Louis Daniel was blessed with many talents and skills that he used to provide a successful living for his family, including his mother and two of his older sisters after they became widows. He and his wife of 63 years, the late Katie Bell Holmes Walker, were parents to nine children who will cherish his memories and continue to embrace his training and model his integrity. These include Queen E. Rucker of Port Gibson, MS; Willie L. Walker (Cornelia A); Sammy J. Walker (Terry); Rubbie D. Harris (Curtis) all of Mendenhall, MS; George H. Walker (Karren) of Michelau, Germany; Marilyn Wilson (Edwin) of Port Gibson, MS; Thomas G. Walker of Biloxi, MS; Ida Lin Henry (Rev. Phillip Henry) of Magee, MS; and Valnesia Person, MSN/ED/RN (William) of Aurora, Illinois. Also, Louis Daniel (L.D.) leaves to treasure his memories and embrace his teaching 33 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; and two nieces, (Betty Selvage & Dr. Ledora Harris) whom he and his late wife nurtured and reared. Louis Daniel is survived by one sister, Doich Bell Anderson of Jackson, MS, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends many of whom affectionately refer to him as "Uncle L." Preceding him in death were twelve siblings: Josephine Benson, Dorothy Berry, Arene Craft, Irene Hubbard, Argie J. Stapleton, Odell Bradford, Aline Overby, Glen Walker, James Walker, Dan Walker, Mims Walker and Maggie Walker.
