Mrs. Mattie Louise Foote

Mattie Louise Michael Foote was born June 26, 1943, in Brandon, Mississippi to the late Louise Gates and Jack Michael. Mattie accepted Christ at an early age where she attended Sand Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. Mattie was a very warm and caring person. Mattie's formal education was spent attending Carter High School that went from elementary to high school. While at Carter High School she was very active. Mattie ran track, played basketball, and was a cheerleader. Mattie's first job was working side-by-side with her mother cleaning the classrooms at the school. Mattie was affectionately known by "Clussy" the nickname given to her by her brothers at an early age. In the early-1960s, Mattie met and married the love of her life, James Foote' and they resided in Duluth, Minnesota before moving to Los Angeles. After residing in Los Angeles for some time, they decided to relocate to San Francisco, California and enjoyed 44 of years of marriage. In 1971, Mattie began her employment working for California Pacific Medical Center as a dedicated food service worker where her enure spanned for 34 years. Although, Mattie didn't have any children of her own, she loved her family, her nieces and nephews were her children. Mattie always shared her knowledge and wisdom with her nieces and nephews. Mattie loved to talk on the phone and tells stories about back in the day when they were young and keep us all laughing. She loved to go shopping. She had a thing for decorating and you could count on Mattie to decorate the hallways and doors of the apartment building she lived in. She was an avid reader and writer she always went to the library. Mattie returned to college and earned her degree as a Nutritionist. Mattie Louise Michael Foote' (Clussy) is proceeded in death by her late husband, James Foote', her Mother and Father, Louise (Toosie) Gates and Jack Michael, her Sisters, Bettie Dear, Birdie Taylor, Brenda, and Gertrude, her Brothers, Will Henry Mayers, Robert Smith, Sr, and Dennis Taylor, Sr. Mattie leave to cherish her memory five Sisters, Elouise Michael Mondaine (Danny) of San Francisco, CA, Sudie Wheeler of Los Angeles, CA, Bobbie Courtney, Linda Hill (Frank), and Mandy Neal (Orlando), one Brother, James Taylor (all from Brandon, Mississippi), nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-great nephews, cousins, and a host of wonderful friends who will miss her dearly.
