Mrs. Patricia "VV" Proctor Houston

Patricia Proctor Houston, affectionately known as, V.V., Vee Vee, B.B., and Mrs. Very Valuable, was born January 14,1957 to the late Mr. L.C. and Daisy Proctor. She was the last of eight children. NEW BIRTH Patricia joined Greater Friendship at a very young age. She served faithfully under the tutelage of many great men of God the last being Pastor Perry Fletcher. Patricia participated and served in areas of the church where she felt God would get the most glory and the members would best benefit. She led many songs in the Young Adult and Mass Choir and worked faithfully as a clerk in the Church's finance office. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Head Chef at Rock Star Missionary Baptist Church's annual Vacation Bible School. A TIME TO BE TRAINED Patricia provided forty-one years of service to the State Board of Health. She started as a Personal Assistant but quickly rose through the ranks and retired as an HR Generalist V. She loved her job and serving her community. In 1995, Patricia joined the MAPA (Mississippi Association of Personnel Administration). She served faithfully for more than 20 years on the Board of Directors for HealthPlus Federal Credit Union. A TIME TO LOVE In April 1976, Patricia united in holy matrimony to Sylvester Houston Sr. The two remained eternally devoted to each other for 43 years until Sylvester's death in August 2019. To this union, four sons, Sylvester Houston, J.. Kevin Houston, Patrick (Jessica) Houston, and Kentrell Tanner; two daughters, Sylvanna Houston and Sharondalynn Tanner were born. Patricia and Sylvester Houston Sr. provided care to their nieces and nephews, Eddie, Keith, and Monica; James, Lucy, and Vickie preceded them in death. The pair were also blessed with two God Children, Quincy Washington and Trey Spann. Patricia will be missed by many including her ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. Always giving thanks and praise to God almighty, for their blessings, love, and care of family givers. It was a marriage that seemed to last a lifetime. A TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE Patricia, 67, peacefully and lovingly departed this earthly life on December 12, 2024, surrounded by close friends and family Patricia leaves to cherish her memory, six loving children; Sylvester Houston Jr., Kevin Houston, Patrick (Jessica) Houston, Kentrell Tanner, Sylvanna Houston, and Sharondalynn Tanner, all of Brandon, MS; two sisters, Martha Williams (West Memphis, Arkansas) and Naomi (Johnnie) Pack (Brandon, MS); Eight sisters-in-law, two brothers in law and oneaunt: Shirley Spann; Ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends. Patricia was preceded in death by three siblings; Wilbert Scott, Eugene Proctor, and Tawanna Proctor; and her children in Love, James, Lucy, and Vickie. CHANGE OF ADDRESS Family and Friends, The time has come for me to go. My Heavenly Father informed me that my new home was move in ready!! It is beautiful! It is located in an exclusive gated community. My eternal love, Sylvester, greeted me at the tallest, most beautiful pearly gates I have ever seen. He showed me around my new residence. We have a view of the most serene celestial shore, paved in gold. Every day is Sunday, and I have the pleasure of singing in Heaven's choir with some of the greats. It is better than I could have ever imagined. There is Peace, Joy, and Happiness here. There is no pain, no suffering, and the cares of the world are gone. No strife nor discontentment. Just sweet serenity everywhere. Now I know you all will miss me... What can I say... I am irreplaceable!! The life of every party, the best dancer, sharpest tongue, and most strong-willed woman that God gave you the pleasure to know. But I say to you, please don't be sad to see me go. I had a wondertul life, and it was all made better by all of you. I married the love of my life Sylvester and spent more than 43 years together before God called him home. Together we built a beautiful family and raised six children. Sylvester (Mane), Kevin, Patrick, Kentrell, Sylvanna, and Shun. I had the opportunity to nurture and help raise ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. I got to spend time with my sisters, Naomi and Martha and make so many memories that will keep this family laughing for years to come. I had a fulfilling career with the State Board of Health, where I worked for over 41 years. I built lifelong friendships at my church home of more than 60 years. It was a good life. My parting lesson to all of you is to live life to the fullest. Don't worry about what other people think about you. Be yourself. Love hard. Be passionate and energetic. See the happiness and goodness in people and always stand up for yourself and the people you love. Do what is right, and when you think of me, always remember how much I loved you and this life. But know God loves your more. IN REMEMBRANCE Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sylvester Houston Sr.; three brothers Edward Dawson, Wilbert Scott, and Eugene Proctor; one sister Tawanna Proctor; one nephew James; and two nieces, Lucy and Vickie, that she raised as her own.
