Mr. Ralph McNair

Ralph McNair was a hardworking craftsman, a fantastic husband, and a loving father. Born on December 14, 1941, in Pelahatchie, MS, to Lonnie and Isabella McNair. Ralph, a student of McCall High School, embarked on a different path at a young age, driven by his unwavering commitment to family. His desire to be productive led him to master carpentry, earning him a reputation for meticulous attention to detail. Following this, he dedicated a decade of his life to the Stanwood Plant, a clothing manufacturer in Pelahatchie, before serving the Town of Pelahatchie until his retirement. On May 8, 1964, Ralph wed his beloved sweetheart, Cora. Their journey was a model of companionship and shared joy. This union was blessed with a son, Raphael. Ralph's spiritual journey began at a tender age when he joined the Farris Hill M.B. Church. By the time he was 22, he had been ordained as a Deacon. His unwavering commitment to his faith and the church community was evident in his 30-year tenure as Chairman of the Deacon Board, a position he held until his health declined. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman, reveling in fishing and hunting. He cherished time with family, particularly during gatherings where he shared food and captivating stories. Eating good food-crab legs, shrimp, fried fish and gumbo-brought him extreme delight. Anyone who knew Ralph experienced his giant personality and passion for life. His family, friends, community, and the world are better because he was in it. On May 22, 2024, the man many cared for dearly slipped away in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, Doyle McNair, Lonnie McNair Jr., Dennis Moore, Eva Grace Collier, Eli McNair, and Jimmy McNair; and two grandchildren, Rafael Neal and Jerry Cole Jr. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Cora (Kate) McNair; his dutiful child, Raphael Dwayne McNair; four siblings: Doretha (L.C.) Rhodes, Michael Johnson, Shirley (George) Lay, and Yolanda McNair; two grandkids, Malik McNair and Darius McNair; and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves four Godchildren: Tanaka (Shun) Wilson, Veronica Collier, Xavion, and Damarion Snow; one daughter-in-law, Donna McNair; and a special niece, Yvonne Champion. Ralph McNair's life was marked by dedication, skill, and an enduring love for family.
