SGT Robert Earl Fletcher

Robert Earl Fletcher, departed this life at his home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in Brandon, MS. Robert was born October 8, 1960 in Rankin County, MS to Carl Lee Crofit and Verlean Fletcher. He was raised in a rural community of Brandon, MS. Robert was the oldest of eight children. Robert attended McLaurin Attendance Center from 1966 to 1969. Afterward, he was integrated to Puckett Attendance Center. During his attendance at Puckett High School, Robert was well known by his outstanding sportmanship as a football player. Shortly after graduating from high school, Robert joined The United States Army in 1980 and served until 1992. His service assignments included: FT. Polk Lousiana and Germany, Europe. After serving his country, Robert returned to his hometown of Brandon, MS. Still endowed with the spirit to love and protect others from harm, Robert began a career in Law Enforcement. He served 18 years with the Rankin County Sheriff Office as a Sheriff Deputy until his retirement in 2017. He was joined in matrimony to Shuana Tillman-Fletcher in 2009. Robert was a loving and caring husband, father and well- loved member of his community. Robert would help anyone. He was very humorous and for those who knew him would often hear him say "naw, naw, naw or yep, yep, yep" if he agreed or didn't agree with you. Robert loved sports, bowling and travel. He was a member of the TNBA (National Bowling Association) and bowled in the Metro 24 Westland City and Reservoir Super Bowling league at Fannin Lanes. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Carl Lee Crofit and his sister Elvyleen Fletcher. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Shuana Fletcher of Brandon, MS; one son, Jeremy Terres (Truely) Fletcher of Arlington, TX; step-daughter, Jashele Tillman of Phoenix, Arizona; Mother, Verlean Fletcher of Brandon, MS; Siblings, Sherlie (David) Brown, Cynthia (Dan) Norwood, Jerome (Lynn) Fletcher all of Brandon, MS; Sylvester Fletcher of Pearl, MS; Charles (Arrie) Fletcher of Charlotte, NC, and Carolyn (Norman) Patterson of Mobile, AL; Uncle Ennie "EG" Brown of Mendenhall, MS; Aunts, Curtisene (Hugh) Dobson and Della (Curtis) Thomas both of Brandon, MS, and Eunice Boone Carpenter of Chicago, IL; several special godchildren, (Alex, Myra and Morgan Glasper of Brandon, MS); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends..
