Mr. Roosevelt Ross

Roosevelt Ross transitioned into God's arms on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the age of sixty-six peacefully in his home. Roosevelt was born June 25, 1958, in Florence Mississippi to H.L. and Christine Ross. Roosevelt was one of four children born to H.L. and Christine. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Pearl, Mississippi. Roosevelt proudly served as a Sheriff's Deputy and retired from the Rankin County Sheriff's Department in April 2024. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he worked as a line operator at Delphi Packard Electric in Clinton, MS, and also held a position with Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Jackson, MS. He was preceded in death by his father, H.L. Ross Sr.; his mother-in-law, Lorene Taylor Mack; his aunt, Earnestine Lewis; his uncle, Jim Amos Webb; his cousins, Gary Farmer and Ted Farmer; and his special brother and lifelong friend, Rick Roosevelt is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Runchy Ross; his son, Dedric Ross (SeMoya) of Brandon, MS; and his daughter, Christina Ross of Huntsville, AL. He also leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Christine Ross of Florence, MS. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren through his son Dedric: Quentin Ross, Jalen Ross, Makaria Hedge, Aiden Ross, and Makai Terrell. He was also a joyful great-uncle to Adam Bradford, the cherished son of his beloved niece and nephew, Amanda and Timaal Bradford. Roosevelt is also survived by his three brothers: Henry Lee Ross, Jr. (Jean) of Florence, MS; Jerry Ross, Sr. (Michelle) of Edgewood, WA; and Lynn Ross (Carol) of Plano, TX. He was deeply loved by his sisters-in-law: Paulette Gary (Anthony Sr.) of Florence, MS; Palma Short (Willie) of Florence, MS; and Melissa Robinson of Florence, MS-whom the family affectionately referred to as his "sister-wife." He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Randolph Taylor (Shirley) of Memphis, TN. He was cherished by a host of nieces and nephews who brought him great pride and joy, including: Brian Ross, Jeremy Ross, Nicholas Ross, Austin Robinson, Amanda Bradford, Timaal Bradford, Jerry Ross Jr., Jessica Ross, Shannon Anderson, Robbie King, Rita Sanders, Jared Anderson, Danielle Taylor, Randolph Taylor III, Gabrielle Ross, Jordan Ross, Hannah Ross, Valerie Taylor, Kadejia Gary, Keya Gary, and Anthony Gary Jr. Roosevelt was also deeply loved by his special cousins, devoted church family, fellow law enforcement officers, lifelong friends, and extended family-each of whom held a meaningful place in his life and heart.
