She enjoyed planting gardens, cooking, nurturing her offspring, and helping others. Verlean was preceded in death by her Parents; Common Law Husband, Roy Skinner; Siblings, Ella Mae Fletcher, Ernest Lee Fletcher, Robert Louis Fletcher, Ruthie Mae Brown, and Will Henry Fletcher; and Children, Robert Earl Fletcher and Elvyleen Fletcher. Verlean leaves to cherish her memories her children, Charles (Arrie) Fletcher of Charlotte, NC, Sylvester Fletcher, Jerome (Lynn) Fletcher, Sherlie (David) Brown and Cyntheia (Dan) Norwood of Brandon, MS, and Carolyn (Norman) Patterson of Mobile, AL; Grandchildren Raised by Mother, Lorenzo Charles Rawls of Brandon, MS and Steven Dewayne Paige of Mobile, AL; Daughter-in-law, Shauna Tillman Fletcher of Ridgeland, MS; Bonus Daughter, Patricia Johnson Robin of Branch, MS, Siblings, Curtisene (Hugh) Dobson and Della Bell (Curtis) Thomas of Brandon, MS; Uncle, Ennie George (EG) Brown of Mendenhall, MS; Many nephews, nieces and friends, 16 grandchildren & 25 great grandchildren. Although Mother didn't grow up in an environment with the finest things in life, she was a precious soul with a rich, beautiful, peaceful, and humble spirit. Mother spoke with wisdom, was trustworthy, generous and kind with her time and resources, and brought out the best in others. She conformed to a standard of what was right and good and applied moral excellence in character. Mother showed good moral qualities and behaviors, such as kindness, honesty, loyalty, care, and charity. Although Mother felt weak at times, she was a fighter who fought against struggles and resistance. Mother possessed the strength that amazed everyone she encountered. Even when she carried burden and faced hardship, she embraced happiness, love, and joy. She smiled when she wanted to scream. She sang when she wanted to cry. Even when she grieved at the loss of her mother, common law husband, and two children, yet she remained strong when others thought she had no strength left. Oftentimes, the hugs, kisses, warm smiles, and words of encouragement from family and friends, healed her broken heart. Mother was a loving and supportive parent who always made time for her family. She often went without so her children could have. Mother was happy when she heard about a birth or wedding. Mother had love without limitations or conditions for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In return, her children highly valued, loved, and cared for her and considered her as a treasured possession. Mother played multiple roles in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's development and growth. The impact that Mother had on the life of her descendants taught us to be united by love for each other, work hard for what we want and need, treat others with kindness, and take care of responsibilities. Mother also taught us to believe in our abilities and make use of the skills given by the MOST HIGH so we could develop into a strong sense of self-worth and confidence. Mother was so loving that she often called people "love". She was humorous and would say things that caused laughter. Over the years Mother formed lasting friendly relationship with many people who will always be cherished. Her actions spoke louder than words Mother was one of the kindest person you have ever met and had a genuine interest in people from all walks of life. She would say kind words to someone who was feeling down to lift them up. Mother was selfless and generous; always giving to others without looking for a personal gain. While mother worked dependably in meeting the needs of her own family, she also helped other needed people in the community. Although Mother only completed the six grade due to having to work in the field to help support her family, she received an Honorary Doctoral Degree as the maker of her home, cook, caregiver, babysitter, provider, educator, doctor, disciplinarian, spiritual guider, counselor, health inspector, clothing consultant, taxi driver, and friend. Mother had a positive, faith-filled outlook on life and served as an example of a virtuous woman with a tremendous servant's heart toward other people. Mother used the gift the MOST HIGH gave unto her and fulfilled basic need of some who were in tougher situations. She provided care to some of the elders in the community, drove those who lacked transportation to their destinations, shared produce from her gardens with people in the community, looked after children in the neighborhood, and prepared food for almost everyone she encountered. The work Mother did and the time she gave were evident of her loving-kindness and generosity and exemplified that she was a hard worker with great skills. We honor Mother for her tireless efforts that she showed repeatedly through her words and her actions throughout the course of her life. We love you Mother and miss you without measure.... Rest in peace and we pray your spirit is blessed to live forever with the MOST HIGH.
