Mr. Willie Gibson

Willie Gibson, age 71, of Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025. He was born on August 6, 1954, in Fayette, Mississippi, to Rebecca Truman and Kelly Dee Sr. Willie gave his life over to The Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. Willie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by love, resilience, and quiet strength. Willie was known for making a way out of no way. Willie spent over 55 years working on semi-trucks, heavy equipment, various labor intensive projects. Willie dedicated 26 years of hard work to Holmes Trucking Company in Richland Mississippi, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and built lasting friendships. His commitment and work ethic were a reflection of the values he carried throughout his life. A true jack of all trades, Willie had a natural gift for fixing, building, and figuring things out. Whether it was working on cars and trucks, helping with home repairs, or lending a hand to a neighbor, he was always ready to step in with skill and heart. His hands were rarely still, and his talents touched every corner of his community. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lametha Gibson, his mother Rebecca Trunell, and his father Kelly Dee Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Loretta Gibson, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Willie leaves behind his daughters: Tiffany Wilks of Jackson, MS, Jacqueline Sanders (Jeffrey) of Bolton, MS, Shavon Gibson (Odeh Alama) of Texas; his sons: Kenyatta Wilks (Shawntae) and Antonio Wilks of Jackson, MS, Chris Gibson (Jane) of Clinton, MS, Willie Earl White (Stacy), and Eric Moore of Port Gibson, MS. He was a proud grandfather to 25 grandchildren and a beloved great-grandfather to 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Elaine Powers (Willie) and Overlee Bell (Andrew) of Vicksburg, MS ,Jeanette Dee of Jackson, MS, Jewel Dee (John) of Las Vegas, and his brothers : David Trunell, Michael Trunell, Mason Trunell, Jeff Gibson (Sally), Elie Trunell of Fayette, MS, Grover Trunell of Bloomington, IL, Elbert Trunell of Kitzinger, Germany. Leroy Dee, Kelly Dee Jr., Robert Earl Dee, Eddie Lee Dee Sr. (Ella), Daniel Dee (Yvonne), Joseph Dee (Virginia), Bobby Dee Sr. (Tracy), Jacob Dee of Pattison, MS. Willie's legacy lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, whose lives reflect the values he held dear - compassion, perseverance, and integrity. He will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and wisdom.
