Deacon Willie James Mosley, Sr.

Willie James Mosley, Sr. was born on May 18, 1959 In Brandon, Mississippi. His parents, J.D. Mosley and Geneva Bloodsaw Mosley; five (5) brothers, Eddle Ray Mosley, J.D. Johnson, Eddy Mosley, Nathaniel Mosley and Eddie Grant; and three (3) sisters, Brenda Mosley, Sarah Mosley and Sarah Johnson, all proceeded him in death. Willie attended Carter High School until segregation came in the early 70's and was transterred to Pearl High School, graduating in the class of 1977. In 2020, Willie was inducted into the Pearl High School Football Hall of Fame because of his invaluable contribution as a stellar athlete. Upon graduation, he attended Hinds Community College on a football scholarship. In his youth, he was a member of Pine Valley M. B. Church and was an ordained deacon. Willie James met the love of his life, Kathey Lewis and they united in Holy Matrimony on April 6, 1985. To this union two (2) children were born, Willie James (Jaleisha) Mosley, Jr. and Kordia Mosley. Willie's favorite hobbies were fishing and watching sports, quartet singing with the Farris Hill Male Chorus, Pelahatchie Community Male Chorus, and the former Taylorville United Methodist Male Chorus. Also, he adored family and friends, especially the Class of 1977 along with the Dominos Group. He was a great "Preacher Pusher" with sayings like: "Preach Rev, go ahead, etc. His favorite Preacher of all times was his only son, Willie Mosley, Jr. He was gainfully employed by Waste Management Services as a truck driver for over twenty years until his health declined. Through life's swift transitions, he joined the Farris Hill M. B. Church. Lastly, he joined the Greater Works Outreach Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Douglas McMahon where he served as deacon until his transition. Willie made his transition from earth to glory at his home on August 3, 2026 and is now residing in the heavenly Hall of Fame. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife Kathey Mosley of forty-one (41) years, two (2) children, Willie (Jaliesha) Mosley and Kordia Mosley; three (3) sisters, Carolyn Mosley, Mary Anderson and Priscilla Mosley; one (1) brother, Robert Lawrence Mosley; two (2) aunts Sadie Lewis and Shirley Davis; two (2) uncles Glover (Faye) Mosley and George Mosley; mother and father in laws, Jearleen and Robert Holly; two (2) brothers in law Curtis aka "Bubble" Lewis and Khufu (Angela) Holly; and one (1) sister- in- law, Tempress (Collins) Lanyuy and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, Karl Walker, John Thompson aka "Paw Paw" and Willie Harris aka "Woo."
