Mrs. Clara Mae Simon

July 24, 1933 - August 16, 2019

Clara M. Bogan was born July 24, 1933 in Rankin County to Jim Bogan and Geneva Scott Boagn who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one child, Jimmy and two brothers, Paul Bogan and Vernon E. Bogan. She grew up in Rankin County. Clara attended New Hope School, graduated at the age of 13 and com- pleted College at the age of 17 at Camden College in Jackson, MS. She also attended Alcorn College with BS Degree in teaching. She taught 12th grade Eng- lish at Pisgah High School. Clara met and dated Afric in February 1954 and two months later they married April 22, 1954. They moved to Detroit, MI for a short period of time afterwhich they moved to Rockford, IL. Clara worked at numerous facilities and eventually retired from Rockford Township in 1997. Clara enjoyed listening to good music, love to talk and joke around. Clara loved sports and she loved saying her favorite word, “sh_ _!” She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Afric; five children, River, DeWayne, Diane, Donna and Reggie, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
