Mr. Dechesley M. Amos

September 19, 1986 - February 20, 2021

Brother Dechesley Amos, affectionately known as "Bookie", was born September 19, 1986 in Jackson, Mississippi to Cleotha Amos and Lula Morgan Amos of Morton, Mississippi. Dechesley attended the Scott County School District. At an early age, Dechesley joined Lone Pine Missionary Baptist Church, where he later became a faithful musician for many years. He was passionate about music. Wherever he went, his bright smile would brighten the atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression. Dechesley initially received an opportunity to become the full-time musician at Lee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Sandhill, Mississippi and served in that capacity for approximately twenty (20) years. Too, he played at Trinity United Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi and Mount Zion Missionary Baptist in Ludlow, Mississippi. Bookie loved to sing and director the choir ministry. He was a life member of the Children of God Gospel Choir and enjoyed traveling to different areas of Mississippi and beyond. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Quittie Morgan and paternal grandfather Bill Amos and grandmother Mable Holmes. Dechesley leaves to mourn his memory, his father, Cleotha Amos; mother Lula Morgan Amos; three (3) siblings, Cornelius Amos, Alisha Amos and Zaira Amos; grandmother Jessie Mae Amos; grandfather Leo Morgan, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
