Mrs. Dorothy M. Davis

September 15, 1944 - September 25, 2020

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Davis was born on September 15, 1944 in Brandon, MS to the late Eddie Hobson and Josephine Porter; both of Brandon, MS. Dorothy departed this life on Friday, September 25, 2020 at St. Dominic's Hospital. She grew up in the Brandon area where she attended and graduated from Carter High School, Class of 1964. As a young woman, she began her walk Christ and until her health failed, she was an active member of Rock Star Missionary Baptist Church. She followed the verse Philippians 4:13 and served on the Usher Board, Kitchen and Beautification Committees Dorothy found her passion in life caring for others and earned her nurse's aide certification from Hinds Junior College. She retired from Mississippi State Hospital after 25 years and worked briefly at K's Kids after retirement. Later in life she found special joy in continuing to care for others and spending time with her "breakfast buddies" A'mari, Elijah, Aundrea, Ethan and Maddison; along with her “holiday buddies", Arajay, Ariya, Asia, and Amia. In her spare time, she loved cooking, traveling, and was an avid reader. She was best known in the family for her nuggets of wisdom shared with her younger cousins as well as caring for her family. She leaves to treasure her precious memories: two daughters, Leslie A. Porter, Pamela D. Porter; one son, Jeremy T. Davis; grandson Zachary Shane Taylor, all of Brandon, MS. She has two aunts, maternal aunt Mary Myers, of Brandon, MS: and paternal aunt Francis Gray of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Junior Davis but leaves her in laws Eugene Jenkins, Kenneth Davis, Clarence Davis, Richard Carroll, Debra Grimes, Charles Carroll and Dorothy Ellis, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to cherish her memories. She leaves a host of cousins including Ida Branch who is more like her sister with them growing up together as young girls; her church family including her cousin Bettie Crain, and lifelong friends and neighbors including her special little neighbor AJ.
