Mr. Eddie Lee Childs Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Eddie Lee Childs was born on October 18, 1951, to the late Mrs. Mary Martin-Swinney, in Morgan City (Leflore County) Mississippi. He joined Pleasant Gift M. B. Church where he was baptized on December 26, 2010, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. On November 5, 2016, od chose him to become a deacon. He also sang with the Men's Choir and served as an usher too. He worked for over twenty-five years with Scott County and was very dedicated and committed to his work duties. After retiring, he loved to sit on his front porch drinking coffee and eating his chocolate sweets. He also loved outdoor hobbies (includes hunting and gardening) until his health failed. On May 14, 2021, God called him home to eternal rest, while at his home in Morton. He was a good father with a big heart and was an humble, sincere and very loving man. He will forever be missed and his family and loved ones will always cherish his memories. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Mary Martin-Swinney, three brothers (Howard Swinney, Jr., Moses Swinney and Joe Lee Swinney), one sister (Johnnie Mae Hughes) and one niece (Martha "Poochie" Childs). Mr. Eddie Childs leaves to cherish his loving memory three children: Mrs. Pamela (Rev. Marcus) Denson of Morton, MS; Rev. Johnny (Cheryl) of Byram, MS and Mr. Alex (Chrissy) Childs of Lake, MS. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Roderick Childs, Jaqueline (Jay) Winsley of Sandhill, MS; LaMarcus Denson of Morton, MS; Autumn Childs, Jonnice Childs, Xavier Childs, Jaila Childs, Johnny Childs, all of Morton; Zoee Childs of Jackson, MS; Paisley Childs and Zeek Childs of Lake, MS; three great-grandchildren, Jurnee Winsley and Jaycee Winsley, both of Sandhill, MS and A'Mir Childs of Morton, MS. He also leaves behind four brothers: Willie (Violet) Childs of Jackson, MS; Willie (Gwendolyn) Swinney and Robert (Faye) Swinney, all of Pelahatchie, MS and James Swinney of Morton, MS; one sister, Dorothy (James) Hughes of Morton, MS; a dedicated friend, Mrs. Jessie Mae Grant and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
