Mr. Elijah Hill

On November 24, 1950, in Rankin County, Mississippi, May Belle Burton and Jones Percy Hill were blessed with a son named Elijah, which means, "Yahweh is my God." Elijah always kept the faith and finished his race on March 21, 2023 with his family surrounding him. Elijah accepted Christ at an early age at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Flowood, MS. Elijah attended Carter High School where he graduated in 1970, as the class president with honors and several other accolades. He also played both baseball and basketball. With scholarships in hand, Elijah attended Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa. He matriculated on to attend The University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy, in Iowa City, Iowa. He obtained his degree in 1975. He worked for a local pharmaceutical company before opening his own business Medicap Pharmacy in 1981. During his 15 years of practice, he was licensed to practice in Mississippi, West Virginia, Illinois, and Iowa. After leaving his practice, Elijah moved back home to Mississippi, in 1995. Where he went into sales and later retired from Watson Quality Ford. Elijah has been a renewed member of St. Mary M.B. Church for more than 27 years. With a heart of service he faithfully served as the Sunday School superintendent, treasurer, and president. He also served as the president and treasurer for the Springhill Sunday School Institute. He also committed himself as St. Mary's church custodian, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and Brotherhood secretary until his health failed him. Elijah always helped everyone and demonstrated the love of Christ to whomever he met. He constantly showed what love was and always shared a kind uplifting word. Elijah's favorite pastime was running 10 miles plus a day for years. He was known for participating in many marathons. His favorite movie was the Star Wars Saga. Elijah Hill was married to the lovely, Mrs. Linda Bryant Hill, for more than 26 years. He was the father of 3 and dad of 6 and had 12 amazing grandchildren. Elijah leaves to cherish in his memories his loving wife, Linda Bryant Hill, two daughters: Mandi Hill Crane (Robert) of Edna, Minnesota, and Jobie Hill of Durham, North Carolina; one son, Egan Elijah Hill (Natalya) of Scotts Valley, California. He also leaves behind three stepsons, Tarrence Sinclair (Lauren), Shawn Sinclair (Attiya) of Brandon, Mississippi, and Darrence Sinclair (Leslee) of Huntsville, Texas; 12 grandchildren: Ellis, Leo, Hattie, Atesh, Addae, Devan, Danasia, Taylor, Ryan, Tarrence II, Emily, and Langston; three sisters: Floree Norwell, Annie Stean Hill, and Earnestine Chambers; three brothers: Jessie Hill, Sam Hill, and Robert Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins, and friends. Preceding him in death: his parents, May Belle and Percy Hill and siblings: Lillie Hill Burton, Willie Hill, Bob Hill, Doc Hill, Frank Hill, Ada Hill, Sally Hill, Florence Hill, Mary Hill, Percy Hill, Jr., Geneva Hill, Leonard Hill, Albert Hill and Charlie Hill.
