Mrs. Evone Walker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

I have fought a good fight, I have fimished my course, I have kept the faith... 2 Timothy 4:7 Evone Lewis Walker was born on September 26, 1947, to the late Tommie Lewis and Alfonza Perkins Lewis in Brandon, Mississippi. She was the fourth of nine children born to this union. Evone attended school in Rankin County and graduated from Carter High School in 1966. Evone accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Flowood, MS. While there, she was active in the choir and served in any capacity she was able. She later became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served and attended faithfully. Evone maintained her faithfulness until her health failed. In September of 1967, she married Cornelius Walker, Jr. They were married for over 40 years, when they were separated in death. From their union, three children were born: Trent Walker, Kecia Walker, and Lewis Walker. Evone was known for her gentle and friendly nature. She was a hard worker and loved to plant and harvest crops from her garden. Evone was outgoing and loved to cook and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her love for others was a part of who she was, and its reflection is forever embedded in our hearts. Evone was employed with Rankin County School District for many years until her health failed. Evone always expressed her appreciation for her caregivers. She wasn't one to complain, but in all things, continued to smile and give God praise. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, May 20, 2022, at home. Preceding Evone in death were her parents, Tommie and Alfonza Lewis; husband, Cornelius Walker, Jr.; five brothers: Tommie Lee Lewis, Bobby James Lewis, Willie Jury Lewis, Luther Lewis, and Randy Lewis; and two sisters, Clara Mae Feazell and Alberta Bryant. She leaves to cherish her memory three children; Trent (Lisa) Walker, Kecia Walker, and Lewis (Cherie) Walker; one brother: Lindsey (Jeanette) Lewis of Jackson, MS; one sister, Mary (Curtis) Jenkins of Dallas, TX; three lifelong friends, Zattie Webb, Dorothy Alfred, and Carolyn Myers; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in- law, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and many others who loved her dearly.
