Mrs. Flora Jean Geary

"God is our refuge and our strength, and ever-present help in distress," Psalms 46:2 A loving and beautiful life came to an end on Saturday, February 20, 2021 when an angel from heaven was sent to take Flora Jean Geary home to be with the Lord. Mother Flora Jean Geary was born in Scott County, Morton, Mississippi, to Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Ma February 14, 1939. She was the first born of nine children to this union. Mother Geary accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Holy Hill Church of God in Christ under the leadership and the tutelage of Superintendent D.R. Curry, Sr. and Elder Booker T Wells. Mother Geary relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1963 then, married her elementary school friend George W. Geary on January 8,1964; to this union, God blessed them with two sons. Mother Geary continued to be an active member of the Church of God in Christ. She was a faithful member of Greater Mount Olive Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, California. There she was the Church's Announcement Clerk; the President of the Bible Band/Bible Studies and produced several musicals/concerts as fund raising events for the church. Also, she once served as the St. Luke District and the California Secretary for the Church of God in Christ. Before she and G.W. returned home to Morton, Mississippi, they raised a family for over 20-years in a home that was once owned by martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Upon returning home to Mississippi in 1992, she began to substitute teach at Bettye May Jack Middle and Morton Elementary Schools. For nearly a decade, she was an active member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi as she faithfully attended Sunday School, Worship Service and the annual revivals at Christian Triumph Missionary Baptist Church (Morton, Mississippi) which Pastor Dr. Ava S. Harvey, Sr brought the Word every night. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband of 57-years, George Washington Geary, of Morton, Mississippi; two devoted sons, Efrem Geary of Los Angeles, California and Dave A. Geary (LaTanya) of Morton, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Monee' (Andre Sr.), Joshua (Kayla). Jessica, Sydney, Justin, Dave “Tony", and Kennedy; four great-grandchildren, Andre “AJ”, Monet “CiCi", Aniya and Julian; three brothers, Robert Earl, George and Melvin (Juanita) of Morton, Mississippi; one sister, Betty "Dome" of Morton, Mississippi; one aunt, Mother Eloise McCoy of Morton, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two God Sons, Richard McGregor of Valley Village, California and Keenan Ephriam “Knot" of Los Angeles, California; special sons of the heart (115th Place), of Hawthorne California. Her father, Monroe; mother, Nancy; brothers Frank, Stingley, baby Marvin-Bernard and sister Evelyn; all preceded her in death.
