Mr. Garry Lee Hicks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Please, no sad hearts, no hung down heads. Don't weep for me for I am not dead. I have another house you know, where only God's redeemed can go. Garry Lee Hicks was born the first of two children to the late Oscar Lee Hicks and Betty Jean Coleman Hicks on June 8, 1961, in Rankin County, Mississippi. His education started at the Mount Elam Sandhill Center. He attended Carter High School until the 7th grade. Garry was a 1979 graduate of Florence High School. He received an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Phillips College in 1981. He confessed Christ at an early age, and became a member of the Sandhill Missionary Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. He was employed by MS Valley Gas for 5 years. Garry was currently employed at Siemens for 37 years, where he was recently promoted as a Experimental Machinist. He entered peacefully into the Master's Joy on Friday, February 18, 2022. Garry loved to ride horses. He was a member of the Rankin County Road Riders. He won numerous trophies for pacing and single footing. His passion was raising cattle. He also loved to hunt, fish, ride ATV's, and play cards. He was an all time fan of the San Francisco 49ers. As a yearly event, he would attend Cruisin' the Coast with family and friends. His daughter: Dedra La'Toya Hicks; father: Oscar Lee Hicks; grandparents: Willie (Big Daddy) Coleman, Sr and Florean (Big Mama) Purvis Coleman; Artrolus Hicks and Jessie Mae Davis Hicks preceded him in death. Garry loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories, wife: Carnette Taylor Hicks; two daughters: Le'Sondra A. Hicks of Dallas, TX and Kayla M. Hicks of Houston, TX; mother, Betty Jean Hicks of Pearl, MS; brother: Willie James Hicks of Pearl, MS; two Godsons: Redrick Coleman of Pearl, MS and Aaron Cannon of Florence, MS and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who lives were all touched by Garry Lee Hicks.
