Mr. Gary Eugene Beck

Gary Eugene Beck, was born on May 23, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Williette Beck. He was preceded in death by his parents. At the age of five, he relocated to Long Beach, California with his mother, where he resided for many years. Gary attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California. After graduation, he studied at Long Beach City College. He loved his hometown and enjoyed sharing his many memories of growing up with his family and friends. While in Long Beach, Gary was employed at McDonald Douglas Aircraft. Gary accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at an early age at Garfield Baptist Church in Long Beach. While at Garfield, he was an active member of the usher board. In 1992, Gary united in matrimony with Emma Tate, and to this union, two children were born. In 2001, Gary relocated to Brandon, Mississippi. He was employed at Mississippi School for the Blind, where he worked until his retirement in 2017. In 2007, Gary united in holy marriage with Vickie Spann. Gary showed and always expressed his love for his family. He loved the lord and his church family here in Mississippi. He was a member of Rock Star Baptist Church for many years and later joined True Vine M.B. Church where he was a faithful member until his health failed. Gary, thoughtfully known as "Red”, was a joy to be around. He was outspoken and loved to make others laugh. He was full of life, and he always showed love to everyone he met. It was nothing for Gary to hold a full conversation with a total stranger in the store. That was just the heart of Gary. Although Gary experienced some struggles in life, he used those struggles as a testimony to encourage others and to prove that God was, is, and will forever be a healer, deliverer, way maker, and light in darkness. For that, Gary will be eternally loved and missed. Gary leaves to cherish his loving memories: a loving and devoted wife. Vickie Beck; a daughter, Aisha Samuels and her sons, Akris and Akos Collins of Long Beach, CA; two sons, Eddie and James Beck, of Brandon, MS; a brother, Kenneth Weston of Brandon, MS; five bonus children, Latisha Spann, Chanon (Ronald) Wiggins, Taleshia Thompson, BJ (Amanda) Thompson, and Asha Spann; 17 bonus grandchildren, 7 great-grand-children; two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Jennifer) Spann, Jr. and Dewayne (Sonya) Spann, Sr.; a great-aunt, Bealuh Myers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
