Mr. James Earl Green Jr.

James Earl Green, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior," was born to Virginia Washington and the late James Earl Washington, Sr., on July 6, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan. Although he was raised in Brandon, Mississippi, his love for the West Side of his home city was un doubtedly clear, as almost every hat he owned was monogrammed with the infamous “D” on the front. James loved sports. As a child, he was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers. As he got older, he developed a sincere passion for basketball and became a DIEHARD Detroit Pistons fan. Win, lose, or draw, that was forever his team! Junior was an excellent student and athlete. He was always in the newspaper for high achieving scholastics and athletics which led him to several scholarship offers for higher education. James was also a gifted, freehand artist. He could look at just about anything and draw it excellently, with little-to-no thought. James loved his family. He loved having fun, making people laugh, and had a deep love for all of his nieces and nephews. On September 1, 2007, James was joined in matrimony to Yolanda Y. Culver of Rochester, NY. Their union would produce his greatest accomplish ment and favorite friend of all, his son, Christopher James Green. He loved his son very much and was grateful for the gift of fatherhood. His gift of artistry has been placed in the hands of his son, with hopes of it continuing to pass to his future generations. On October 11, 2019, the heavenly Father received James with His loving, open arms! He was welcomed at Heaven's gate by his big brother, Vincent (Sharron) Green of Brandon, MS and his grandmothers Vernell Green and Margaret B. Teasley of Detroit, MI. Those re maining to cherish his memories are his beautiful wife Yolanda, and their sons Donovan Jones and Christopher Green of Jackson, MS. Grandfather, James Green of Detroit, MI; mother, Virginia Washington of Detroit, MI. Siblings Vershawn (Melissa) Green of Jackson, MS; Shelia M. Washington of Atlanta, GA; Sapphira Taylor of Detroit, MI; Timica Terrell of Atlanta, GA; Marcella (Jerome) Hill of Detroit, MI; and Olivia Rhodes of Detroit, MI. His life will also be treasured by a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
