To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2 James Earl Johnson, known to family and friends as "Keke", passed away after a brief illness on March 1st, 2022, at the age of 75. James was born on December 9, 1946, to the late Irene Johnson, in Jackson, MS. He was the second of five children and was raised by his grandmother, Louisa Johnson, and special aunt. Maggie Neil. He received his education at Lanier High School in Jackson, MS. On January 16, 1966, James and Gloria Mae were united in Holy matrimony. To this union, 1 daughter and 4 sons were born. James loved his children dearly. During his later years, he gave his life to Christ while attending Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend A.L. Barnes. During the late 70's. James was employed with Climate Master's and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. During the mid 90's, he began working with Mississippi Traffic Control. Lastly, in 2005 he pursued his final career in Central Heating & Cooling with his oldest son. James Jr., along with working for "Reed Insulation." under his brother-in-law. Bruce Reed. He thoroughly enjoyed his work related experiences and established many friends during his tenure. Bro. James' passions included family, traveling, playing cards, watching football, and hanging with special friends. Keke has a warm, caring soul and was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, moving, or whatever else people needed him for. He was the true definition of "the life of the party." He leaves to cherish his precious memories of six children: Tiki Mangum, James R. (Sharran) Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Antoine G. (Kelishia) Johnson. Christopher B. (Akethia) Johnson, Steven T. (Ajuanzie) Johnson. Two siblings, Jerry (Phyllis) Smith of Columbus, OH; and Michael Smith of Chicago, IL. He also leaves to cherish nineteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all over the world. A special hello to his wife, Mrs. Gloria Johnson; mother. Ms. Irene Johnson: brothers, Robert Sandifer and Keith Smith; grandmother, Ms. Louisa Johnson; and special aunt, Maggie Neil, who all preceded him in journeying to rest with Jesus Christ.
