Mrs. Mae Francis Crawford

September 8, 1948 - February 5, 2022

Mrs. Mae Frances Crawford departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 4:47 pm. As she joins hands with the Savior, she will be greeted by parents John B. and Henry Lee Lewis, two siblings, Johnnie Mae Washington (sister) and Henry Lee Lewis (brother). Born September 8, 1948, Mae Frances Crawford was the seventh child of eight children born to John B. and Henry Lee Lewis, in Florence, Mississippi. She devoted her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess until her health failed. She was a graduate of McLaurin High School, Class of 1967. After graduating she joined the Job Corps of Washington where she pursued a Degree in Culinary Arts. After returning to Mississippi, Mae Frances worked most of her years at GNB (Exide) until the facility closed. She later became an employee at Mississippi State Hospital, retiring in 2012. She was blessed with her daughter Joyce McLin from a previous marriage. September 9, 1974, she married Melroy Crawford. To this union two children were born, Antonio and Diandra Crawford. Mae Frances enjoyed spending time with her husband, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She found joy being with her family, caring for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mae Frances looked forward to preparing breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings for, a very special guest, her Great Niece "Maddy McCoy" When Maddy learned of "Aunt Frances" heart failure, she brought a replacement heart made of an M &M; so, her "Aunt Frances" would get well. Mae Frances is survived by her husband, Melroy Crawford; daughters, Joyce McLin (Orlando) and Diandra Crawford, and son; Antonio Crawford (Mary), Aunt Frances leaves to cherish her grandchildren Eric, Arlandria, Ky'la, Kennedi, and Brycen; two great-grandchildren Riley and Major; three sisters Burnette Barnes, Ethel Hines (E.C.), and Joann Lewis; two brothers James T. Lewis and Leon Lewis and a host of nieces and nephews. Her parents John B. and Henry Lee Lewis; two siblings Johnnie Mae Washington (sister) and Henry Lee Lewis "Sonny" (brother) preceded her in death.
