II Timothy 4: 7-8 Mother Mary Maude Hawthorne was born January 28, 1924, to the union of Lee and Flavilla Norwood in Simpson County. On Monday, October 18, 2021, in Bryam, MS, the angel of the Lord quietly ushered Mother Mary Hawthorne, from earth to glory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Norwood and Flavilla Norwood, her children, Arvell and Lee Otis Hawthorne, Thelma Laster and Carolyn Hawthorne, her siblings, Dale Norwood, L.S. Norwood, Odessa Franklin, Tommy Zine Walker, Annie Bell Joshua and Earlene Mallard. Mother Mary Maude Hawthorne was married to Prezone Hawthorne and to this union 2 children were born, Thelma and Carolyn Hawthorne. Mother Mary worked for many years as a Housekeeper for the TV anchor Burt Case and many others. She was a dedicated worker at St. Hill COGIC and was the oldest member. She served and loved her church. She was a faithful Church Mother until her health failed her. Mother Hawthorne never missed a beat when it came to doing her part in the church. She was a saved, sanctified and Holy Ghost filled Woman of God. She was well known for her favorite song, "I Don't Know What I would do without the Lord." She leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Leona Stewart of Magee, MS, and Dessie Ree Hamilton of Port St. Lucie, Florida. One brother, Willie Norwood (Helen) of Detroit, Michigan. Six grandchildren: Frederick F. Laster (Bebee), Rochel Small (Trence) and Broderick Laster all of Jackson, MS, Thelma Bradley Bell (Lorne) of Orlanda, FL, Jeffery Bradley (Lizelle) of Winterhaven, FL and Arvell Bradley (Linda) of Bartow, FL. A very special friend and neighbor Billie Faye Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and the entire Saint Hill Church Family.
