Mrs. Mary Dell Mangum

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER THE HEAVEN: ECCLESIASTES 3:1. A TIME TO BE BORN: Mary Dell was born August 6, 1935, in Rankin County, Mississippi to the late Liddell and Mary Fletcher. She was the first of seven children. She was preceded in death by brother, Daniel Fletcher and sister, Helen Fletcher. A TIME TO UNITE IN HOLY MATRIMONY: Mary Dell met the love of her life, MJ Mangum. The two were joined in Holy Matrimony December 1952. MJ preceded her in death on July 22, 2018. To this union three children were born, Marvin James, Elnora “Little Bessie,” and Willie Morris. A TIME TO LIVE: Mary Dell joined Sylvarena Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Lowery Griffith was her pastor. She worked 34 years at Mississippi State Hospital as a certified nursing assistant. She retired so she could come home to provide in home nursing care for her father and later her mother. She will be remembered mostly by her kind ways, dedication, her faithfulness, humility and love she had and demonstrated to everyone. She had a love for cooking and doing private home work. A TIME TO ANSWER: On April 20, 2021 at 1:58 PM, God saw that Mary Dell’s life down here was troubling and only she could feel the pain. So, God dispatched an Angel down to earth and whispered in Mary Dell's ear and said, "your work down here on earth is done. Come and go to Heaven to rejoice with the Father, Holy Ghost and the Son. No, don't worry about leaving your family and friends behind. Your precious memories will linger on." Mary Dell answered, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Today, I am ready. Now her soul is resting in the arms of God. A TIME TO MOURN: Mary Dell leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Elnora “Lil Bessie” Palmer (Carl) of Brandon, MS; sons, Marvin Mangum,(Linda Dase) Heidelberg, MS, and Willie Morris Mangum (Jackie), Brandon, MS. Granddaughter, Nikita “Tootsie” Palmer, who was very instrumental in implementing and providing in home health care to Mary Dell. She dedicated endless and unmeasurable time helping Elnora to take care of Mary Dell. A very special son-in-law, Carl Palmer, who opened up his home permanently so his mother-n-law could receive 24-hour in home health care. Sisters, Vernell Myles (M.J. Myles), Carolyn Anderson (Curtis) and brothers, Donell Fletcher (Marian), Arthur Ray Fletcher, all of Brandon, MS. Five (5) grandchildren, seven (7) great-grandchildren. A host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
