October 5, 1958 - July 24, 2019
On October 5, 1958, Michael Anthony Redd was the first child born to Walter and Dorothy Redd in Brandon, Mississippi. He attended Carter High School in Brandon unt Americans who integrated Pearl Junior High in Pearl, Mississippi. Mike graduated from Pearl High School and attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. At Southern, Mike became a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Mike went on to work a number of jobs, retiring as an engineer at Raytheon in Forest, Mississippi. Mike was a long-time active member of Greer Chapel United Methodist Church. He was passionate about operating the sound system, motivating and working with youth, teaching a computer class for seniors and working wherever he was needed, having served on numerous committees and in various positions. He was married to the love of his life, Shelia Collier Redd and had three sons, Montrel Anthony Redd, who preceded him in death, Shadrick Simmons and Michael Cortez Collier. He was very fond of his God daughter, Chloe Longley. He had ten grandchildren and especially enjoyed frequent visits with his grandson, Jakiren Collier. He had four siblings - Jacqueline (Michael) Lopez, Andre Redd, Richard (Kim) Redd and LaToya ( Marcus) Thompson. He had a host of nieces and nephews, one of whom, Broderick Smith, preceded him in death, and a host of aunts and uncles, his Aunt Theresa Fulwiley, being like a mother to him. He loved his mother-in-love, Betty Alexander, as well as his siblings-in-love. He loved his many cousins. He loved to fellowship with his family, playing cards and dominoes, and he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His favorite saying was "Keep it 100.” After living a full life, he departed this Earth on July 24, 2019.
