Ms. Ruby Ann Baines

January 15, 1937 - November 2, 2019

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, was one who always put the interests of the family first. Mother Ruby was born in Madison County on January 15, 1937 to the late Huston Evans and the late Isabell Palmer. She was raised by stepfather the late Selmon Littleton. She became a Christian at a very young age. She was baptized as a member of Hall's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jake. Walker. Momma Ruby was married to the late Milton West, I and to the union two sons were born, Milton, II and Selmon West. The family moved to Salina, KS and Flint, MI. Later, they moved back to MS. Momma Ruby remained a faithful member of Hall's Chapel until death. Momma Ruby and Sister Mary Ann sang in a gospel group, Spiritual Six, as young adults. Later in life, she was married to the late Robert Baines of Bolton, MS. Momma Ruby was a member of the Second Christian Institute, Hall's Christian Assembly and Madison County Ushers Institute. Momma Ruby was a faithful usher. She was a member of MS Freewill Baptist Quarterly Conferences. Momma Ruby leaves to cherish her memory: Two sons: Milton West, II (Doris) of Edwards, MS; Elder Selmon and Elder Linnie West of Bolton, MS; Grandson: Milton West, III of Jackson, MS she raised as her son. Three sisters: Rev. Mary Ann Thompson of Flint, MI; Mattie Evans and Ann Evans of Gary, IN. Three Grandsons: Kentral (La Tedra) Kelly of Clinton, MS; Anthony (Dana) Jones of Monroe, LA; Juwan West of Bolton, MS. Granddaughter: Saquida West of Jaćkson, MS; Three Nieces: Mary (Alfred) Henely, Janet Haggard and Carrie Edwards Clemons of Flint, MI. Five nephews of Flint, MI, two sisters-in-law, one aunt: Dorothy Williams of Jackson, MS, one uncle: Joseph Palmer of Jackson, MS and a host of cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene Evans, Lee Floyd Wilson and Walter Littleton.
